They have over half a season left to sell the overstock, and whichever way you look at it, running out before xmas is not what they would have wanted to do. lets be honest here, who is going to buy a shirt after xmas who hasnt bought one already? who will wait till a few months are left till its out of date to go out and buy a new one? not many i bet. Someone with a birthday. If that's the case, why do they even have a salesroom. Why don't they just have a big bin with 50% off written on it, and everything tipped into that? They have racks of shirts in the shop. They must be there for a reason. Selling shirts would be my guess. Either they want to sell shirts or they don't. If they want to sell them then they should have them. If they don't then they should just discount them. EDIT: So they ordered some new ones, so clearly they do want to sell shirts in their shop.

Wishing all you Gasheads a very happy Christmas and a great 2016. Go get that double promotion. From all the ICT fans that attended the friendly in Bath a few seasons ago. Have a good one guys.

Having the stock arrive just a couple of days before Christmas isn't exactly great timing. A lot of people will have bought alternative presents, or be unable to get to the shop/willing to rely on postage times so close to Christmas. Sorry, but it was a similar situation 20 years ago, when my lad was a nipper. Surely the club have had ample time to wise up and get their act together by now?

Thanks for this Tilly; saved me posting pretty much the same thing. Having them now is now use when people will have most likely already finished their shopping and bought alternative presents. Ridiculous.

Did you manage to get a shirt for your boy Yattongas? Sorry to admit that in the end I went on to eBay/Amazon ( can't remember?) and ordered him a t-shirt . It's got Bristol Rovers the gas written on it. Cost £12 I think. He'll still love it but it's not the same and the club loses out on £30. I'll try again next Christmas...... Maybe they'll have things Sussed by then ?!

Yeah, but clothing retail always works like that. You overstock for the season, with the intention of having as close as possible to the full range in stock during the whole of your key selling period. Then you discount in preparation for the next season. Even discounted stock makes money, until your very last mad sale bit when you go down to half price. But even clearing stuff at half price doesn't lose money. If you run out during a key time (like, I assume at BRFC, xmas) then that's losing potential sales. Eg, if you stock 150 items and sale 100 at full value and 50 at half price mad sales time, you still make more than selling 80 at full price. That's why generally clothing retailers have sales periods. It's not that they're really rubbish at guessing how much they will sale, they deliberately err on the side of too much. Coz effectively overstock doesn't cost them anything, but understock does. what if the over stock doesnt sell? have you thought maybe they havent got a lot in is because previous over stocks havent sold? last season was our first in the conference, so didnt have anything to go on. Get with it Gaz ffs , it was the lead up to xmas and they had no/none/zilch childrens rovers tops available to buy. Some times I worry about the intelligence of our fans

It was the same last year. I picked up a kids goalie shirt a couple of days before Xmas due to stock only arriving in the shop the week before xmas.
This isn't a new situation sadly.

O'Dear, atleast you got a couple of likes. Good on you for making the effort. So were they wrong to have ordered more stock so close to Xmas or not? what if they ordered to many and made a loss? the same anti-board posters would be giving it just as large. the lady in the shop said there would bs stock in this week, there was stock in this week. lets have a moan because they were sold out for a few days.

Next thing is we'll have some fans talking bollox about not being able to buy shirts for Wembley even though our opponents had no problems getting new shirts......... Not really sure anybody but BB can defend the way the merchandising dept is run at Rovers as it seems to be stuck in a time warp even when they have stock to sell. Although I guess it gives us something to moan about now things have picked up on the playing front!
