It was interesting to hear our manager say on radio Bristol yesterday that the players only pick up a win bonus if we're in the top 7 league places . Let's hope they cash in starting next sat !

No cash incentives for mid table games in April then. The incentive should have kicked in long before April!! A meaningless win in April should not be rewarded.

Winning games increases interest. The April results can have an effect on the fan base for the following season. Likewise, what if we were in the bottom 4?

That's a fair point regarding if we were in the bottom 4 but I don't think April mid table games effect the fan base for the following season as the interest is in the promotion/ relegation if the club are anywhere near those situations. End of season games with nothing to play for are generally accepted as just.

In some countries and in other sports, every game bar none is of the most importance. I find it a real shame that this mood/feeling-call it what you will, even exists. A professional outfit should imo do its very best every single time to try and win.

Not so sure, if we were just giving out win bonuses now would the players yesterday have been busting a gut to win or just accepted the loss/draw? Something is pushing these players on this season to perform compared to previous season's?

Kind of figures that this scheme was in place in 2013/14 season by the looks of it. Jesus, lets hope we learnt what an undesirable and distorting effect such bonus schemes can have on behaviour and modified it forever!

Some interesting thoughts. For me, this a fair scheme. If we are in the play-off positions, crowds are likely to be better, funding the win bonuses. Mid table performances earn you your basic salary. Near the bottom and you are playing for your job!

I agree, every team should try to win every game regardless and the supporters should want their team to win every game but I for one will not get too suicidal about a draw or loss two games from the end of the season if we are mid table. Lets put some perspective and be realistic on the said situation.

That's why DC has installed it,to have a positive effect and it's working like last season. Those wasters from the past had a bonus just for turning up! Now they have to earn their bonus which is only a good thing. 79 is stating supporters may lose interest from meaningless April games for the following season if you look again.

The team should try to finish as high as possible,so no game is meaningless, and as has been stated, finish a season, even a midtable one, playing well it gives belief and confidence for the players and fans for the following one. Having said that,i have watched many an away side who are safe in midtable put in a lacklustre performance in terms of fight and commitment

Where to start....? Earn a new contract perhaps?
