It seems that Matty Taylor has turned down the offer of a new contract and may well be on his way.
Not sure if his contract is up in January or the end of the season, but at his age, I don't believe we can enforce a selling fee.
If the contract is to the end of the season, then it could well be that we will look for a fee in January. I'm told he wanted a new contract earlier in the season, but was told to wait. It now seems the boot is on the other foot and he is no longer willing to sign.
My opinion is that he has not proved much yet, as can be seen by the number of one on ones he misses, but he obviously has something there. However, I feel he owes DC if not the club, and should be prepared to sign on the basis we will let him go for a reasonable fee. But this is probably another mess up caused by our lack of funds due to the appeal in January.
Nottingham Forest seem to be sniffing around, but even though I don't believe he could hack it at championship level, very few lower down could pay him more than we could if we had made an offer earlier.

If he has turned down a contract offer, isn't normal protocol to improve it? They should have got him signed prior to blowing smoke up his jacksee, unless its all on purpose...

Change the record mate.
Do you know for fact that we didn't offer him a contract earlier in the season because we couldn't afford it? Or are you Nick Higgs bashing yet again..?

You replying to me Gaz? If so, I don't know what he's been offered. It's normal for players to turn down an offer though iot get an improved one. Nick Higgs bashing?? You must be looking for a squabble or something!

If this is true and I have no reason to doubt your post, isn't this all part of games/negations to get a better deal, and the agent to play the market, to get a better deal/contract elsewhere if possible and at the same time haggle with Rovers

It wouldn't be a surprise if Taylor has turned down an offer though would it? The timing is a bit coincidental too.

Like wysemangas said, "IF" he did it's probably to get a better deal for himself, who can blame him for that? I wouldn't.

I think that practically everyone agreed with the policy of NOT offering long-term contracts anymore. At the start of the season, Taylor was an unknown in terms of could he hack it in League 2. Obviously, everyone hoped he could, but we didn't know for certain. Now, he has proven himself, and so we will offer him a new contract. If he turns it down and moves on, well, good luck to him, but the club has to come first, and long-term contracts are surely a thing of the past while we are in the lower divisions. It's a risk we take with the shorter contracts, but the well being of the club surely must come first.

If he is to leave, then the only questions to ask are whether Harrison or Easter would have taken the chances that have been created! If yes, then no need to worry!!!
We sold Gary Penrice once, and replaced him with Carl Saunders who went on to benefit from the chances made by the players that remained at the club!

So which insider (incider) should we believe?
Severncider 14/12: "I believe his agent has already indicated to BRFC if he will stay next season."
Gasincider 15/12: "It seems that Matty Taylor has turned down the offer of a new contract and may well be on his way"

I am not surprised.
On the wages he is on at the moment, I would not sign a new contract unless the wages were doubled.
There will be plenty of Championship 1 and 2 teams willing to offer him in excess of £1,700 per week and that is FAR LESS than what I believe we are paying Easter.

So get rid of Easter, get rid of Mildenhall, sort his contract out.

It should have said "I believe his agent has already indicated to BRFC if he will NOT stay next season." That, of course, assumes that there is no substantial pay rise on offer.

In my eyes it reads his agent has already told the club IF he will sign a new contract. Not that he will sign another contract.

That bloody hat trick will bankrupt the club!
