Seeing some 'strange' Rovers memorabilia being sold by people over the Christmas period got me thinking;
What's the strangest bit of Rovers memorabilia you own?
For me I haven't got anything overly weird but I'm a big fan of my Rovers dart flights and pyjamas.

Not that rare but the strangest Bristol Rovers item I own has to be my vinyl copy of "Singing Bristol Rovers" by Rod Hull and Emu. What the hell was that all about.

As I recall; Rod Hull and Emu, who were a big act at the time, were in pantomime at the Hippodrome so Rovers asked them to join them in making the record. Something at the back of my mind tells me that Rod Hull was actually a Coventry fan.

Not a strange piece of memorabilia but I have an original photo of Stewie celebrating a goal at Brentford from the early 90's. It's my favourite Rovers' related item.

When the first Sunday games were allowed during the 3 day week miners strike back in 1974 it was illegal to charge for entry into a football ground. At that time Rovers played Aldershot away and Nottingham Forest away on Sundays and the way round not charging a gate fee was to sell a copy of the Team Sheet as an entry fee. I still possess both those Team Sheets.

Nothing too strange, but I have got the last shirt Gary Penrice ever played for the gas in somewhere, it was in a friendly/testimonial the season after we sold him, lovely white away design windows one.

A football signed by the Rovers team at Blackpool in 1990.
Not unusual in itself but funny circumstances. My brother persuaded the local steward that he was best mates with Boris and he agreed to get the team to sign it. The pre match warm up was interspersed with him (the steward) wandering round each player and then returning the signed ball before kick off.
Got everyone except Brian Parkin.

Apart from he played loads more games in his second spell at the club! Still a cool thing to have though. Penny was one of the very best that I saw for the Gas. It says a lot for the spirit of the club at the time that we sold him and Nigel Martyn and still went on to get promotion to the second tier. Shows that losing Taylor and Lockyer might not necessarily be a disaster if we were to get good money for them......

Rovers final matchday program at Eastville against Chesterfield would be mine.. A mate of mine also has the grass from Eastville, and I'm trying hard to get him to part with a row of three seats from the North Stand Eastville that they sold off as a job lot..

Well it was the idea of a guy hired by and to promote us in the media, I think his name was Keith ?? perhaps someone else can remember his name? After he left us he went to York City to do a similar job there and he had large 'Y's put on their shirts and promoted them as the Y fronts! Seriously! At the time I was the sales/promotion rep for EMI so I made sure that the record was available in all the shops which was brilliant for me to promote my beloved team. I hope no one had trouble getting a copy! I have a Jackie Pitt badge and the original Rovers metal lapel badge. One of my favourite items of memorabilia is the Evening Post placard confirming that we were at Wembley for the first time against Tranmere.
