We need to get off to a flyer, DC has had plenty of time to put a squad together. That aside i dont mean sack him if we lose our first game but let set out expectations high We could really do with a good start, yes. But fans getting on the players backs could do a lot of damage in the first few games. Darrell will need to mentally prepare the players accordingly because if they go out and get beat whilst performing badly, they will come in for some. We haven't got time to f**k about. On the contrary, if they do the business, they will get the appreciation.

Barnet, Aldershot etc are tin pot clubs. We average 6000 a week. No excuses, we must go up and lets stop making excuses for why we wont before a ball is kicked. Out expectations are rudiculously low. Most of lg2 are tinpot aswell if we are talking crowd sizes. But here we are!

Playing 3-5-2 requires a solid back three and a lot of graft from the wide midfielders. According to some reports I've read, Parkes and Brown aren't yet comfortable with this formation. Would anyone care to comment? Parkes and Macca are too slow if we include Brown in the 3 that's 3 left footed slow coaches.

That is a lack of respect for clubs that have been better run than ours and have done well to exceed where their modest resources should put them. Does not matter how many fans we get through the gate if within 15 minutes they are creating a poisonous atmosphere for the team to be playing in because their expectations are based on history, tradition and having "considerably more money than yow" to nick someone's catchphrase. The purse strings have been tightened and whilst the money has IMO been spent wisely I have no idea how these lads will play on a mud pile in Braintree or a sandpit in Southport. Getting behind a team of honest triers and stayers rather than thoroughbreds has always been our forte. Let's just make sure they get an encouraging stage to perform on when they are at home! Totally agree Wembley. Some fans just don't seem to grasp what a difficult challenge this season will be. 75% of our players have never played a competitive game together. Even Ferguson, Mourinho and Wenger would struggle to get immediate promotion under these circumstances.

Exceedance, Mud piles and Sand pits. Yet lack of respect? Funny guy!

The state of the pitch has nothing to do with the respect due the club - unless you think we deserve no respect for having an atrocious mud pile of our own at Eastville and Twerton and, thanks to dual use, the early Mem years....we have spent more on drainage at the Mem these last three years than we have paid out in transfer fees. Some clubs in the Conference could not spend money on things like that even if they wanted to.

Would anyone care to comment? i went to glos city yesterday and on the day brown seemed hesitant and lacking conviction having to get forward more than hes used to,i feel he could do that job as long as he can convince his own self. with parkes he sometimes gets dragged out into the left back position and looks a bit vulnerable so its a bit of a worry but it dosnt mean the problem cant be solved

Genuinely my favourite player bar Smith from the Buckle era and he has shown he can press and score. I'm getting so excited about this season I really have a great feeling about it. Two games in and I'll be lying naked on the kitchen floor, vomiting hard liquor and screaming WHY? to the Gods, no doubt!

Top ten ? We should be aiming for promotion, we have a big fan base and a big budget and until recently were a league 1 club. Everyone should set high expectations. If we dont go up this year we will be in real trouble We have not got a big budget at all. It's been cut to the bone and DC has had to find players for no fees and on low wages. We are much worse off than many want to believe.

I think you are right, I know people are being careful but we really must aim high or we could die as a club ! We died as the real club years ago. This lot screwed us right over and split the fanbase

Its not about not appreciating how hard it is (i do) its about not going into the season with pathetically low standards as last season where many fans were pattin the players on the back after away defeats because at least we tried. We are bristol rovers, we are going for promotion !!!

Is that a bad thing though ?? As far as I can tell it's the best thing going for us. It's not a complete change in the 'playing mentality' at the club, but it's a start...
