I know i should had done this earlier, but i was at Barnet on Saturday and cannot believe how brilliant once again the Gas support was. Out of a total crowd of 2,770 apparentley we had 1,242 fans. Now, if you do your maths, that means that the total Barnet support was 1,528 and if you minus the gas support, that means that Barnet only has 286 more fans then we did. Now, how many games with the Gas have you been too where the Gas support was almost the same as the home support, especially in League 2! And to think, at first Barnet didnt want to open the terraceing!. Well done to all my fellow gasheads who made the journey to North West London. Just a shame we didnt get the result our play merited.

Bearing in mind they always seem to understate the away following for some reason, i wouldnt be surprised if it was 50/50, certainly felt like that!

Thought the abuse of Barnets goalkeeper was unnecessary and disgraceful.
Good numbers and good noise but a terrible taste in 'banter'.

But City took 5300 to West Brom, now that's what you call excellent support.

To be fair their keeper had a bit of a jiggle to the chant at one point and smiled several times. Took the chant, which was shìt, well. However, at the end when he celebrated punching the air like they'd won a play off final (don't begrudge him at all considering his performance at the end and the fact we should have been awarded two goals purely for his comedy goal kicks), to see a few idiots (using that term loosely) get so riled up they rushed to the front, arms aloft, leaning over the barrier shouting vile abuse at him was nothing short of an embarrassment. You've just been calling him a paedophile for the past 90 minutes.

They underestimated us that night. 2,358 Gas according to the BBC, 2,890 if you read the Birmingham Mail. Interesting to see that side: BRISTOL ROVERS (4-4-2): Mildenhall, Smith, Parkes, McChrystal, Brown, O’Toole, Clarke (Woodards, 76), Norburn, Richards, Harrison (Beardsley, 63), Harrold. Subs: Gough, Lockyer, Clarkson, Keary, Harding.

Both Bristol clubs have a huge inferiority complex.
Not a lot to be proud of.

I have to agree about the embarrassing and, to be frank quite, pathetic paedophile chanting that continued to be sung for nearly all of the second half. This was directed at people that live in Barnet at first and was then extended to the goalkeeper, who bore the brunt of the 'banter' for most of the second half.
I have been on the terraces for almost fifty years and I enjoy a good sing song and at times, a few well directed words at a player or manager that has upset us in the past or has a negative history with us. However, the chanting in the second half was not funny, did not put the keeper off, from what I saw, and more importantly, had very little to do with getting behind the team.In fact, I didn't think the vocal support from such good numbers was all that great and maybe if a section saved their lungs for some positive chanting, we might have created a better atmosphere overall. After all, that is what I go to the foorball for, to get behind the team, and the most important thing is that we see effort, and commitment from the players and hopefully, a positive result. How did the chanting in the second half contribute to lifting the players? If anything, it probably inspired the keeper who apart from some dodgey kicks, made some good saves. At the same time, it always amazes me that we focus so much on opposing players like Akinde.Yes, I will take some pleasure in seeing him play poorly and will do what I can to contribute to that but, once again, I thought the amount of abuse directed at him only served to spur him on and when Barnet scored, I noticed that he looked at us and had a smirk on his face as if to say, well that's what you get for negative chanting rather than just getting behind your team. To be fair, he could have made a real meal of it if he wanted but he just smirked. He is a very limited player technically but he showed how effective he can be at times and I felt that the focus on him only served to inspire him.Maybe I am wrong but I want to do all I can to inspire our players and that way, we might actually achieve more success this season on top of what we did last. I hope that I am not going to hear the same paedophile chanting directed at Oxford players or supporters this weekend as we are sure going to need to be focused on getting behind our team as they are going to need it against a really good side.

Completely agree with this. All for getting behind the team and happy to join in, especially when chants directed at the mob down the road. But sometimes it's embarrassing when chanting stoops this low. Seems to be same one or two loud mouths that start these chants off as well.

Abuse is funny in small doses and if it is varied, for e ample recently st the Wombles. Players lifted when abuse is linked to an injustice but generally the get behind the Gas chants are better I think. More Goodnight Irene, maybe less on the paedophile front ... When I watched Spurs a lot you do get fed up with Wnger is a paedophile chant ... He isn't and it is just boring. More bothered about shooting practice rather than shouting practice!!!
