With Accrington's game v Pompey called off today it will mean they have not played a home game in over two months. They are due to play Hartlepool on Tuesday night but that is likely to be off as well.
We are then the next visitors to the Crown Ground in two weeks time so if the game goes ahead then do you think this will work in our favour or do you think we will get the backlash of their frustration of not having had a home game since Nov 14th?
It will also mean they will have 5 games in hand come Sunday night

If their pitch is that bad they should be kicked out the league and us given 3 points;)

The cold weather should dry the pitch hopefully and they'll have a full programme which should tire them nicely

The season that led to us getting relegated to the division for the first time in 2001, we had a massive fixture backlog as a result of wet weather (4 or 5 games in hand at one point). I remember Holloway talking about how games in hand work both ways - at one point we were probably equidistant from the playoffs and the bottom four of what was then the second division. As it was we pretty much wasted all those points (a few draws) and with so many games in March and April we ended up near the bottom four (and not for the last time as it turned out) our fate came resting upon how we interacted with Wycombe and we went down. Accrington may turn the backlog into lots of points, but it will be tough and it wouldn't be unexpected to see them fall away.

I'm guessing they have a small squad too, so hopefully they will fall away. Looking at booking train tickets for Accrington but don't want to waste my money.

I already have :/ But qwo weeks is a long time so I am feeling optimistic. With the pitch not having any use for such a long time it should be near to perfect if the rain/frost can stay away.

Weren't we suppose to have the coldest winter for decades this year? If so, this cold snap could be the start of a long cold spell rather than just a short cold spell? Not good news for Accy given they've lost so many games so far, you do wonder if the FL will step in and make them play at an alternative ground? Hopefully by the time we play them Windass d co will have been sold.

On the same subject ,Carlisle's pitch being re-laid in two weeks so looks like we'll be going to Brunton Park rather than any of the other grounds they've used;PNE,Blackburn and Blackpool.Looking forward to going there.Good side although Mattee had a good game when we beat them at home.

Nonsense they've been talking about climate change making winters warmer not colder in recent years, the long term Met Office forecast seems to be for the cold weather to last for our northern clubs, I've no idea where you get it's not to going to last from. www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/long-range-forecast/

We had a massive fixture backlog and went on a great run in those games. Could go either way.

Daily Mail isn't much better, I wonder if Gaffers is thinking of copy Harry's "new look"?

I just know about its obsession with bad winters. Of course eventually it'll be right.

Traditional wisdom suggests the rest will be good for accy. BUT i remember last jan when we couldn;t get a game (FA TRophy taking precedence over the lge matches!) and it didn;t help us at all. We were poor at Dartford & very rusty at Woking, who had just played 2 matches and were supposed to be 'tired'.
