It may appear of passed without a whimper but for me it is a huge success that we have kept hold of our players.
There were some strong links to Taylor and especially Lockyer, now time to settle down and crack on for the rest of the season.

DC got his '2 or 3 signings' in early, and kept the rest of the squad together, so job done really. Of course people may suggest we should have got x, y and z but in terms of the strategy we did it. sadly the 'big names' in Lge 2 didn't get snapped up (except Nicholls at Exeter, but hardly a major rival for us), but you can't build your success on the sales of others, so again can't be too disheartened. Cobblers certainly seem to be serious about hoovering up anything who moves. Absolutely ridiculous that a club with various negative court appearances can do that, but football seems to be a sharks game.

Now need to get some more players signed for next season, or we will lose them for nothing. So if we don't go up, we will have to start again and keeping hold of them would have been pointless and cost us money.

Northampton have had all their debts cleared by the local council writing off the £10m loan, so are probably in a very strong financial postion now.
Oxford kept Rolfe (& Appleton) whilst Mansfield lost Nicky Hunt to Orient that seem to be the only tansfer news of note.
As far as it being good news that we kept Taylor that surely depends on whether he wanted to stay and, if so, he quickly starts scoring again.

Long way to go yet. No one thought we could catch Barnet last season and look how close we got to winning it.

Doubt anyone will sign till the end now Some might want to wait to see how we finish etc first, however, some players like to get things sorted sooner rather than later. They like security, like to know where they stand etc. We should be at least talking to them about extensions now.

From what DC has said we've been talking to them since before Christmas, I agree with what you say, but I find that the players who want it sorted sooner are the ones not getting in the team, the ones that wait are the ones that really matter lol

Not really sure we can sort out any first team players contracts for next season until we know what division we'll be playing in?

Not really sure we can sort out any first team players contracts for next season until we know what division we'll be playing in? We could we could offer deals to players that are capable of playing in League 1, with an automatic pay rise or bonus if we get promoted. Would give them an extra incentive to get us up, as well as tying them down. Expect we have been talking to players, expect we are waiting on the court case or other options before completing any deals.
