I'm going to thank Higgs with no reservations or caveats at all. He's invested a lot in a football club that has historically lost money due to the mortgage on the Mem and general cashflow contraints. He may not have every decision right, but i'm sure the new owners will make some mistakes during the next phase of the club's journey. Thanks Nick.

I wonder how Ms Radish will take this ? She can get absolutely f*cked, I hope our new Jordanian overlords build an oil refinery next to her house out of spite.

Thank you to the Dunford family for saving us from extinction and bringing us back to Bristol. Everyone else has been a Dam disastor

Higgs is an odious small minded little toad who was wholly responsible for running the club in an amateur way making bad decision after bad decision.
Now that he has gone I am sure Kevin Spencer will be free to come to The Mem and the UWE whenever he wants.

Thanks for selling up, I thought I'd never see Bristol Rovers potentially run professionally in my lifetime.

Well at least GD might now be invited to club social events and take his rightful place as a club vice president now that the vindictive odious little toad has gone.

What are we thanking him for...? Being down in Dorset I have never been in the know so all my info comes from talking to people on match days and other stuff. Have never joined in the consortium threads because I have nothing that could inform anyone but with NH going I think I would like to thank him for ... Doing a good job in last 18 months to support team and DC in getting us back in the league. Where do people think that money for loans, players came from? There has been no magic wand with money, the guy invested heavily in making sure we are back in league. With the c*** flying about in Summer 14 he could just have walked away (yes I know he would have lost a lot of his investment if he had but the bottom line was he didn't). He has supported DC well this season and helped get players who have pushed us up into top half of table. Yes he was in charge when we went out of league but everyone seems to agree that Ward had money to get players in and loans he just didn't. Not sure that was Higgs fault. ... Keeping his nerve over the past year and working to get the deal he did. He said the UWE would be built and perhaps he will be proved correct. After all there is info out there about how Sainsbury's have shafted everyone else so NH wasn't alone in thinking he was let down. I guess everyone thought they had a watertight contract and many coucils with more resources than Rovers were all shafted. With all the rumours that have been flying about he has maintained a low profile and just, on this occasion, kept to the objective of selling Rovers to the best bidder. (This is my reading if the situation, don't know if we will ever know all the ins and outs of it). ... Guess others will point at missed opportunities over how Rovers have been run and missed chance in merchandising, branding, income streams, means of communication, scouting and club infrastructure and they may be right but although rich he wasn't mega rich and that was probably a glass ceiling on what we could and couldn't do. I certainly wouldn't disagree with them over these issues because we were all able to see the faults but onwards and upwards! Anyway others will have their own opinions and I respect those but these are just my personal thoughts and I think we do need to acknowledge and even thank him for what he has done. (Now I wait for the vast majority to disagree but hey ho!....) UTG!!

Wow, I did not know NH put that up, I was thinking it was a well meaning member of staff, working on a tight budget but trying to make Christmas a little better for some kids. Gold bars we might have now but will the warm hearted spirit be the same ? Time will tell

Despite having in general a poor time as chairman, it does make me wonder how people gave him the stick he received. Who would honestly pour that much money into a club and then not do what they thought was best for the club? Even though I have disagreed with some of his decisions (e.g removal of Campbell.) He has had a brilliant last two years. He put the money in the conference season keeping the defence, plus adding the likes of Lines and Easter. He then has left the club in a good position in league 2, and with huge investment. A great recovery from Higgs whose effort can't be faulted, and never gave up.

None of us would actually be on this forum if he hadn't closed down the OF back in 2014! We've at least been able to criticise, complain, argue and abuse (occasionally) without fear of any comeback from the club (as long as it has not been libellous). I thank him for the money he's put into the club and the fact that he got the UWE project ready to go, but don't thank him for the way he ran the club and managed to get us out of the league. I'm sure he's getting most, if not all, of his money back from the deal, or he wouldn't be much of a businessman. He is/was always a gashead at heart, but I bet the head took over in the end! Thanks Nick!

You hope that a fan of the club cannot come to watch a game free from a spiteful ban? Of course this time yesterday you were slagging off anyone who believed the takeover was a reality.

My only real criticism of Nick Higgs was he celebrated planning permission on the new stadium far too early, and he tried to do too much himself and didn't know how to delegate. I've always felt he had the club's interests at heart. I hope we don't cut all our links with the past, though. Sitting opposite a Portsmouth supporter and knowing plenty of Cardiff and Blackburn followers, I am inclined to reserve judgement on our new owners. My main concern tonight is beating Morecambe...

Thanks Nick! He was regarded as a control freak by even his most closest associates (heard it from their lips) and I will not forget his devious and aggressive attitude to supporters who were still bothered to fight for Rovers predicament and revival when we sank into NON-League football. I sincerely hope Ken Masters leaves soon for the same reasons. They are people who maybe support Rovers support but their attitude absolutely STANK !! I sincerely hope, however, that the new owners, maybe soon or once the season ends invite Gasheads for a Question and Answer meeting as I am sure WE will have many questions to ask them. UTG !
