As the news settle in and we get to know more about him I have to admit I'm having problems with his name! Hope this doesn't seem a "little England " attitude because I couldn't be happier to welcome him. Could we come up with an a (respectful ) name for him. After all nicknames are a part of football. How about Waqa?

What's the problem? It's Wael al Qadi (while al ka-dee).
Sure he'll get a nickname, but it'll be an organic process and hopefully a far cry from Toni the Till.

Knowing how to pronounce his real name is more important than a nickname. I have heard three ways : 1. Wael as in "while" 2. Wael as in "whale" 3. Wael as is "Why-ell"
I think we should all show him the respect of knowing how to pronounce his name.
Anyone able to confirm which one is correct?

He said to rhyme with Gaël as in Gaël Clichy, but to be honest, I'm not sure how you're supposed to say Gaël Clichy.
