In a post during the final weeks of the relegation season, I purloined the following phrase and used it to sum up my feelings as a Gashead
"As a GasHead, we do not choose, we are chosen. It isn't just a leisurely way to spend a saturday afternoon..... an interest... no. It is much more than that, a calling, a duty, a lifestyle. Those who understand, need no explanation - those that need an explanation will never understand. "
Despite, the euphoria of the moment yesterday, a number of posters have already admitted to "uneasy feelings" and I find myself in exactly that place right now. I think that the uneasy feelings come from the feeling of danger that we might lose the ethos of the "Gashead Family". However, there were two things that came out of yesterday's announcements that gave me hope that we wouldn't turn into one of those franchise clubs that simply used the power of money to buy success.
Firstly, they referred to the potential of the fanbase and the second thing was that they wanted to build a sustainable club.
This is going to be a period of change and, in my mind anyway, it will only work if the new owners embrace the fans and, vice versa, the fans embrace the new owners. We all have massive experience of "being Gasheads" and all have our own ideas and opinions for changes that we would like to see made to take the Club forward. A lot of those changes have been mooted and discussed in here already, but maybe this is the time to collect those ideas in one place and maybe present them to the new owners for consideration. I for one would feel happier if we had some input into the future of the club.
I will start you off.
I would like to see free admission to matches for Kids when accompanied by an adult. It would be an obvious financial incentive for families who could not otherwise afford to come but it would also help to build the fanbase of future gasheads (hopefully to fill the seats in our shiny new stadium).
What would your change for the future be?
