its all about opinions i guess also it depends on the wage budget dc is given for loans, obviously if we got 3 championship class players in that would make the team better but if not i dont think it will help matters Surely the only way to improve any Football club is to make the team better though?
For all the great work that's been done to get our Club back into the Football League, I'm afraid the harsh reality is some of our current crop of players have been left wanting on several occasions recently.
DC has done an amazing job with the resources he has had at his disposal, but his job is not to make friends and keep everyone sweet, its to win football matches.
I'm sure if he was offered the chance to bring in two or three Championship standard players, on the right terms, he would jump at the chance.
Yes a few players are to be upset along the way, but that's the nature of the industry I'm afraid.
D C has consistently shown loyalty to the squad of players he has been building, he knows their strengths and weaknesses and will not go out of his to break the spirit of that group of players. He will recruit a player or two that will compliment that group, think of Lines & Easter last season, they complimented what we already had. I for one don't expect any rash decisions.

You can play 5 loan players at any one time and the maximum loan period for an emergency loan is 93 days. I'm sure DC knows where the weakness is in the team and won't have any problem identifying targets if the money is available. I want out of this division asap. 5 quality players would help the team out immensely and would give us real strength in depth. Let's see what happens but we are in a good position in the league and for a relatively small outlay by Wael our chances of promotion would be much improved.

Think, by the indications he has given in the Press, it will be a gradual process rather than a knee jerk reaction.
I still stand by my initial answer to the question at the start of the thread though. " What do we need for the run in?"
3 new players and don't worry about upsetting anyone, as that's going to happen at some stage anyway.

Sunday....WAQ was at the Chelsea game. Some say to watch Chelsea. Anyone notice that Silva and Aguero were both absent from the Man City team? That tends to happen just before a player is sold or leave a club (loan maybe?) Just saying.

You never know though............Could they be the new 'Smash and Grab'?

Recruit with caution. Our cohesion is worth something.
We don't want loads of players coming in - upsetting the apple cart, as it were.
I would rather tie a couple of the current crop into longer contracts. Taylor, Brown, Parkes, Lockyer Leads and Clarke. I feel new contracts would up-morale.
I would sign a Goalkeeper on loan. Mildenhall whilst decent, isn't a natural choice for Darrell. Puddy hasn't been fit for a while. Might be worth - taking a look now in view of next season to.
Maybe a winger if available.

Agree regarding Lockyer/Browner and poss Leads, but why give long contracts to players who would possibly struggle in a higher League, which is surely what we are aiming for?
Agree...We have been desperate for a winger since DL-Verde and Dawson moved on.

I have always been a Lines supporter but I am getting to the end of my patience.
When he signed he was saying how it's not about the club, it's the right deal and the club is a bonus. I didn't like that, even if it's the truth, you could at least make out the guys that sign your name as "one of our own" are more than a "bonus"
The deterioration in form since the big contract has disappointed me and those comments keep coming back. As a player he can be class but I am thinking was it really just about the contract?

A left back to keep Brown on his toes. A centre half. And that is it for me. If I was DC I'd play Montano more, I think he would be much better if he had a few games under his belt, and I'd play Mansell and Lines every time. Lawrence would not get a look in.
we all accept that he changes the team for every game but I think if we had 2 CH's who start every game, along with 2 midfielders and 2 strikers then we have the backbone of a team and they all get to know each other. Then you change the team around them

The problem is that even youth players at Prem clubs are on 10k a week, and that would upset our players I think

He is fighting for a new deal just like most of the squad

Fair enough his best performances were in conf but none of our current squad looked THaT much better - CL was 2 divisions above the conf and it showed .

For example, I can't imagine the likes of Everton giving those kinds of wages to kids. Even Liverpool are letting go of a highly rated youngster because he wants an increase in wages (Jerome Sinclair).

If we've really got some cash to splash then :
A better keeper than Mildenhall - more athletic and with much better distribution A replacement for Parkes - someone better in the air but still with some pace.
DC uses Leadbitter and Brown as wingers - is that his way of playing ? Or is it because he can't find quality out wide ? Personally, if we could get one in, it's a right-footed wide player ahead of Leadbitter - we could be really devastating on that side then.

I would say- it's because he's a new player that the cohesion isn't there. I thought lawerence grew into the game as it progressed. He'll grow into the quarters as the season progresses. We don't have the time to bed in 3/4 players. 1/2 max for me.

After the match Twentyman interviewed our new owner & asked him about player recruitment . He replied that he will sit down with Darrell & ask him which positions he thinks need strengthening and support him. So realistically what do you think we need for the run-in. I think we need a wingback as cover for brown and leadbitter first and foremost. other than that I think all areas of the team could be improved what fan of any club doesn't but we have a squad capable of making the play offs and I think we will make the play offs. We also need to put Lawrence on the bench and make him earn a start by playing well in substitute appearances.
