Following the matchday thread I have had a little browse at I thought I'd share my thoughts for whoever wants to read/agree with/disagree with/laugh at or whatever.
Sinclair will be a huge fans favourite and rightly so. Seen him twice now and I usually give a player 6 or 7 games before making an opinion on him but this lad was absolutely everywhere. Defended, attacked, passed well, tackled, headed, pretty much did everything. Even got his own song now too which I hope catches on.
Taylor looks a cut above the rest, scored one, one chalked off for offside and missed one other but other than that he always wanted the ball, was great in the air for his size and had a great first touch. Will be key this season.
Parkes looked a totally different player to last season, much more composed on the ball and no aimless punts upfield. Should have scored though from Harrison's ball.
We more than matched Cov I thought but it wasn't anywhere near their first team. With the 3-5-2 in the first half we played better but didn't create as much. Nice football though which was far more pleasing on the eye than the dross we have put up with in the last 3 or 4 years.
Second half we went to 4-4-2 and then 4-3-3 and although we created much more chances we also didn't have as much of the ball and mainly looked more dangerous on the break. It will be interesting to see how we line up in the league knowing most teams will come to the Mem with 5 in midfield and one up top.
Overall a decent game which we deserved at least a draw from. Bring on Grimsby now, no idea what system/team we will put out but my guess would be
Mildenhall
Lockyer McCrystal Parkes
Leadbitter Brown
Mansell Sinclair Monkhouse
Taylor Brunt
Subs White Turley Gosling Clarke new winger/striker

Love the song, this what we need more of, the fans showing the bit of humour we always had. Brilliant stuff.

The best (funniest) player chant we'll have had in a while. Been a bit short in supply the last few seasons! Edit: Btw, a good OP and agree with a lot of it. Think there's still work needed on how to break teams down playing 3-5-2 and add that bit of creativity to the play. A lot of the time the ball was being passed to the wingbacks, back inside, into the strikers feet, out to the wingbacks etc. Definitely looked more threatening when we had more width in midfield in the second half, and White was very unlucky not to score (hit the post) after a great move and interchange between the three strikers on the pitch at the time.

If the Stuart Sinclair song was Sloop John "B"(I wanna go Home) then it could become an anthem.
We fell on the 3rd of May It sure was a shameful day Around Bristol Town we did roam. Drinking all night Got into a fight Well I feel so broke up I wanna go home.
So call for Stuart Sinclair 'cos he's gonna take us there Call for Stuart Sinclair, Stuart Sinclair. Stuart Sinclair, oh Stuart Sinclair. The small angry Pirate Who's covered in hair.

If that's correct that The Rovers changed formation 3 times during a game that's good news for the season. I hope it shows the players are intelligent enough to change things around a bit without too much outside interference. That is they don't have to wait until half time to be told. We're going to find it really hard going against some teams and it will be invaluable to be able to mix things up part way through a game. I remember a few years ago reading England were having trouble playing different formations and thinking. These blokes are paid thousands a week and can't change formation??? Even my son's under 10's team understand when I yell at them to only play two at the back. It's only 9 a side. Most teams play 3-3-2. Not us.
