With the exciting news from last week I am seeing a lot of comments about what we are now going to do but lets take a reality check on where we are at the moment and what our expectations are
Following our relegation to the conference which was the darkest day in our History lets look at all the other league clubs who have not got back into the league some for a long time
I can identify 12 ex league clubs still down there would we swap places NO
We got relegated with Torquay look at where they are now would we swap places NO
We got promoted with Barnet look where they are now would we swap with them NO
Lets look at our aspirations for this season on the field
1st priority not to get relegated I am 100% sure we are out of danger on this
2nd priority finish a respectable mid table Yes again this will be achieved
3rd priority to finish in play off spot This is looking more and more likely and a good run in will enable us do this
4th priority to get promoted automatically still a reasonable chance but I think that will depend on other results going our way
5th priority go up as Champions without being defeatist this I believe is now out of our reach and I would be very surprised if Northampton threw it away
Off the pitch
To keep DC and the squad intact yes we have managed to do that
To improve the squad In general terms we have had some great signings that are contributing to our success
To have an investment in the club and change of ownership Yes done thank you Mr Al-Qadi
To continue to make progress with the UWE again with Mr Al-Qadi this is looking very much back on the table
As always the 12th man has continued to contribute and share in the highs and lows of the club
So lets not put more pressure on the club and players by expecting the unexpected this season and lets all get behind the boys as normal and trust them to deliver the goods, if we do not get a second successive promotion this season it will be disappointing but I am sure we will have a lot of glory days in the future
