It's still an awful chant for any Gashead to sing who witnessed the Mansfield game, personally I wouldn't wish relegation to the Conference on any league club's supporters/players.

What is a modern football fan? Attitudes have slowly evolved and unless you have been in solitary confinement for 40 years, you will have flowed with the changes. Scrutiny of refs, managers, players and all things tactical, along with the internet gives everybody the ability to voice an opinion that wouldn't have been worth anything in the past. Try not to get down about it, even when we are doing great people vwill still act irrationally at any sign of a wobble. i think a part of my problem is i went with my dad as a child and early teen, then played football for 31 years going to a few games here and there then got back to watching more from 2000 and now im a season ticket holder,so in may ways i havnt flowed with the changes

im out of step with modern football fans and there very short memories and instant ability to boo there own team or maybe leave early. also cant relate to the forum "get darrell clarke" out attitude if we lose a match does anyone else find they cant tune into this nihilistic instant win or go mentality that pervades modern football? i dont really belong on any forum or maybe any football ground as i dont relate to the people around me,,anyone else feel like this? Good post. Yes agree. Hate the BS, certain attitudes from fans, who seem to see where I stand and come and stand next to me, nastiness towards certain players, the "everything is fantastic or everything is c*** attitude", esp those who turn on a manager after a bad game and want them out, the Premiership which is all about money, which we don't have! But it's all fluff and relatively unimportant in the big scheme and I just ignore it for the hypocritical nonsense that it is. But I still love the anticipation at the beginning of the season, the "this could be our year"feeling, the feeling when you know Rovers are going to win, the occasional diamond (Lockyer) who comes through the ranks, the rare player (Lambert) who becomes special, the moment, 2 weeks ago when you realise that this could be something special and those moments when something very special happens (Igoe's goal, Mansell penalty, Lamberts goal against the city). UTG! In regards to fans , I know this will probably divide opinion and don't mean to cause offence but what really gets my back up is when we go on a relatively good run of games all the a***holes seem to come out the wood work. A good example of this was against Plymouth when there were about 4 or 5 watered up blokes standing right at the front of the blackthorn end continuously knocking into other fans and quite literally squashing the kids standing against the billboards down near the pillar behind the goal. I'm no saint at football and f and blind like a docker but for Christ sake there is no need to try and act hard and to in danger the little uns watching the game.

Sounds like people shouldn't take kids into that part of the ground if they don't want them squashed? If that is what you mean....how about the pi555ed up blokes being the problem, not the kids at the front? Children should be safe along the front wall right??

That's the only trouble with standing especially with all the kids down the front, maybe there should be a safety barrier for them The surge at twerton when a goal went it was like surfing a wave,f knows how the wall stayed up pitch side

Although I didn't sing the 'richer than you' chant. I dont think it's that bad most chants are 'banter' and should be taken with a pinch of salt. I've heard a lot worse things ring shouted from the terrace

I've heard a lot worse things ring shouted from the terrace I agree most chants are indeed banter, but I think "we're richer than you" lacks class. Our new owner doesn't feel the need to shout about his bank balance because he has class. It's a real shame we can't all follow his lead IMO. If we rise up the leagues off the back of the al qadi's investment i'd like to think people would look on and think "good for long-suffering Rovers" because we've gone about everything the right way from top to bottom, not remembered as the smug b*stards who were up themselves as soon as they had money.
