Just switched TV channels to watch the FGR v Grimsby game. It was 0-0 then Monkhouse got the ball on the left, put in a lovely chip to the far post and Disley arrived to place a glancing header just inside the post. Oh to have a CM who arrives late in the box to score. NOT a knocking thread, just an observation!

It would have been interesting to see how Monkhouse would have fared had he stayed - I think we have missed him - and as for Disley - what a star

Damn fine away following for Grimsby for a Friday night. Only just turned on, not sure if they have said how many but I would guess at 250 ish.

Would be fantastic if they could close that gap on Chelts, they're currently 14 adrift with 2 games in hand. I wonder if they have to play Dover away...

I can never recall Lines being that type of player, but Disley's playing Conference football Lines league football, personally I'd sooner watch Rovers with Lines in Div 2 not arriving late than Rovers with Disley scoring goals in the Conference.

must admit I do have a bit of a soft spot for Grimsby. Would like to see them promoted this year.

You know the bit of the pitch 15 yards in our own half? Well that's where you will find Lines wandering aimlessly about.

That'll be the area where he sends those passes out to the wing backs who then cross the ball for Taylor/Gaffney to score. Of course, we could go back to the sideways passing we used to have, just waiting for the opposing team to nick the ball and run through to score. Wasn't that what everyone was criticising Mansell and Sinclair for when we had our previous bad spell? I really don't understand the anti-Lines thing that some people have.

It must be "anti Lines" week this week, as Lawrence & Taylor upset the hate mob by having decent games on Tuesday?

Is that the Chris lines who collects the ball from the defenders so that they don't hoof it up the pitch aimlessly all the time like they did when we were crap last time in league 2 ? Maybe we should get rid of lines i mean he's a footballer isn't he, let's get Harrold back too while we're at it all this being in the play off places malarkey is crap I want a relegation hoofball battle it was so much fun last time.

I was thinking the same thing , I think unfortunately for lines he is always going to be a fall guy for many at certain stages in a season , I thought he was "one of our own" but it appears only when it suits

Clem said away fans numbered 360. excellent for Friday night with match on tv. Strangely despite them having the whole end the commentators said GTFC had sold out their entire allocation. Sounds like FGR up to their old tricks again. Really hope they don't go up! As for Monkhouse and Disley, whilst they combined for the winning goal, their contribution was otherwise not great - as Dis pointed out after he hadn't really got into the game. They are both probably at the right level now considering their age - both great servants to every club they represented, you know exactly what you get. Probably not quite enough for L2 but I wish them both well. Great pros!
