Although I was pleased with the way we played Saturday, I wouldn't even say we got into 2nd gear as Notts County put in one of the worst performances I have seen all season.
I couldn't help feel that I had traveled back in time 5 years, witnessing a Notts County side who had sold all their players from league 1, brought in an entirely new squad who clearly still haven't gelled yet, a manager the supporters despised and a non-existent board with promise after promise that things can only get better. Unfortunately how we know all too well...
I didn't know much about Jamie Fullerton in is time at the Gas but from the things I did hear it was only positive. So it surprised me as I spent my Saturday night in the pubs/clubs of Nottingham to hear nothing but constant criticism of the man who in one man's words ''The worst manager I've ever witnessed at County''
Whilst I believe we can go into tomorrow confident, just need to remember Wimbledon aren't Notts County, and I don't believe we may have an easier game this season.

I feel Fullerton is completely out of his depth, having had no previous managerial expereince as far as i can recall? We've add to fairly easy fixtures so hopefully the results will have boosted confidence for what looks like could be two tough upcomming home fixtures.

Is Fullarton out of his depth or is he a victim of a poorly run club? Notts County spent plenty of money in the summer. Moniz should have done a lot better with the budget/squad they had at their disposal. I did feel it was a risk appointing a manager who had never managed in this country before and so it has proven to be.
Fullarton would have looked a cheap appointment to Notts County fans so he was always going to be up against it, plus apparently he likes to get the players putting a shift in in training so maybe getting their backs up as well as the fans has gone against him.
It's all too easy to blame Fullarton IMO. Albeit I don't know the club's situation overall.

He has probably ruined his dream career as a manager by choosing the worst club and the worst time. or at least he's going to have to put some serious work in to turn this around to even look average.

County may have been woeful but they had 2 crosses that went right across our 6 yard box on the floor and it would only have needed a touch off of anyone and things may well have been different another good following by the gas and very good friendly stewards and policing looking forward to a good game tomorrow night and realistically we ought to be able to take at least 9 points if not more out of our next 4 games we have a breathing space now of 3 points to 8th spot and we need to widen that gap

Many people thought Hartlepool were woeful last Tuesday - defensively they were suspect, but looked good going forward. You could argue something similar for Notts (although I'm only basing this on reports and highlights as I wasn't there on Sat). Hartlepool then went on to beat Barnet, at Barnet with one of the best home records in the league, 3-1. Perhaps there is an element of us making teams look poor, and yes riding our luck defensively a little bit too.

Rod whats the name of the warship on your profile and whats the connection other than Pirates ? It's HMS Hardy, pennant R08, sunk just after 5am on January 30th 1944 whist protecting Arctic Convoy JW56B. My Father was on board, and had it not been for another destroyer (HMS Venus) coming alongside and taking off most of the crew, I wouldn't be here today. RIP all those that died that morning, and since.

It does always seem on here that when we win the opposition's poor and when we lose we're poor not unlucky.

Sometimes a decent manager can find himself at a club where he is powerless to turn the wheels. Think McLaren at Newcastle. I don't like him but he knows his football and he can't get his team playing for him, or the fans behind him, just like most of the last Newcastle managers. A couple of our managers in recent memory might say the same thing. I feel sorry for Fullerton. We might laugh at the protest banner being taken down so quickly on Saturday but how can putting that up in any way be seen as supporting your team on the pitch? Must be very demoralising and unsettling for the players and it's no wonder they performed so badly. Protests should take place outside the ground, or after a game, not whilst it is going on. Anyway, we shouldn't be complaining. Made it an easy three points for us! UTG

Did we make County & Hartlepool look bad though?
I'm sure no matter how bad they were, an impressive away win will only give us more confidence.

It does always seem on here that when we win the opposition's poor and when we lose we're poor not unlucky. Wycombe were probably as equally poor? Apart from Northampton there's not a lot to choose between the sides in Div 2, apart from Pompey when they play Rovers.

Oxford played lovely football when we beat them and I thought they looked like a league 1 standard side but then we beat them so obviously they have weaknesses, Accers are a tough side hard to break down , likewise Plymouth. I think we're as good as any side in this division on our day and I think over the 46 games we'll be in the top 7 maybe even top 3. We are capable of automatic, but then so are many sides in this division.

A bit off topic but for all you 'doom and gloomers' you can get Rovers to finish bottom half at 66/1 with SkyBet. We're only 6 points off 13th.

My uncle was a rear gunner in a Lancaster, a bit of a scary place to be really, and another uncle fought in North Africa, Italy and Arnhem, and got caught and then escaped by slitting the throat of a guard who was around his size. He stole the uniform and surrendered to the Yanks. My dad caused havoc in the Frome area with excessive drinking and fighting, he also was part of a bomb disposal team

Fullerton has made his own bed and can lie in it. Jumps from club to club and was so intent on getting a managerial job he may well have wrecked his reputation for a while. As we know from Buckle, after one disaster some fool will give you a second chance, but after 2 disasters you'll need to change or move abroad. There may well be a good coach / manager in there, but he really hasn't helped himself in the last few years.
