How is it the cricket ground can erect 6 ugly 200 foot tall floodlights with no objection from locals despite them being a total eyesore, yet these same people went out of there way to stop rovers moving forward with the mem development etc.. Just don't get it??? Thank God that we are now heading in the right direction with the new owners on board. The lights look very nice and improve the view of the area But that's only my opinion

I heard they're still kicking up a fuss as they are "higher then they originally thought"
Did a tour of Lords recently where they've done the same. Part of the agreement is they have to lower them after the last game and remove them between October and March at a cost of £50000 a year. Atleast glos haven't had to go that far.

A shame that they can't be rotated and pointed towards bishopston when not needed for cricket. Yeah we'll show those tossers who live in Bishopston!

They must have had to sort£ out all those residents in the new flats at the ground I should imagine. Just can't believe how big those lights are lol,I can see them from miles away. Shame we can't get some blue and white flags on them.

I can't believe it's beyond engineering these days to produce a telescopic floodlight than can be lowered at the end of a match. Wouldn't be cheap I'm sure, but they've spent a bob or two over there anyway haven't they?

Like the UFO nickname but to me the look like great big flowers!!

Bit of a coincidence to see this thread today, but I noticed the new floodlights on Saturday whilst playing football several miles away in Redfield!
Have played football at the same ground for the last 15 years and never noticed the cricket ground before, certainly can't miss it now!!!!!!
