I understand the worry about players being up to the level above, but don't underestimate the power of the collective. When we got promoted in '89/'90, basically the same team with a couple of additions got us to mid-table in what is now the Championship. It was only when Gerry left, took Ollie with him and then a few of the other core players went, that things started to go downhill a bit. Who's to say that our squad, with a few quality additions, couldn't do well in league 1? Let's keep our feet on the ground for now, though. Remember that on probability and the bookmakers' odds, we are more likely to not go up than go up this season. Yeah, and the least you can do, is give the opportunity to the players that got you there, the chance to establish themselves at the next level. A player who is trying to get the team to a level he knows he won't be given a chance at, isn't going to be as motivated as a player who believes he will get every chance to prove himself at that level. I guess next season our wage budget can take the hit but guaranteeing 20+ players a new contract two divisions about what they were playing a couple of seasons ago seems a risk to me. I guess all players hope they will get a new contact if they help their club to promotion but I doubt they all do get offered contracts? The way LL is going he'll play less than half a dozen full games but still get a new contact in a higher division!

Does any of this matter? To learn from history is to recognise the reality of the chaotic scrambling around that was going on. Who, what and where does not matter. It was chaos. Now it comes out, to ensure it doesent happen again, is to ensure there is challenge to the fawning loyalty expressed by many on this forum, for example. In reality 92% ownership will prevent that, and minority shareholder rights, as represented by the SC and their two chancer directors, will do nothing. So, its close your eyes and pray. Is it a bit quiet on the other forum now?

Is it a bit quiet on the other forum now? I think peter parker who is a mod on the other forum answered that earlier. Much of what has happened in the last few weeks is what many on there have been suggesting for years. And the response has been very dignified, in my opinion.
