Well Gasheads this was meant to be the day we were all going to be hanging into every piece of media we could to hear possibly the death knell delivered on our famous and proud club. Lots were so angry about the lack of plan B whilst others, including me, held some optimism that Sainsburys would meet their match and little old ragbag Rovers gain the biggest victory in their history in securing their future and a new ground. Well after all the arguments and bickering on the forums a certain family have sailed over the horizon and calmed all the seas and secured our future regardless of how much damage Sainsburys tried to inflict. Now today instead of OTIB eagerly waiting to pen the largest water take threat in their history they can stick their 6 digits up their Arsenal because all of a sudden it's as though the result no longer matters anymore. Of course it does as it will help shape what plans are in place with the release of monies perhaps we never dreamt we'd have and also perhaps accelerate decisions to get the ground started BUT I so so want us to win this appeal for all the heartache that horrible company inflicted on all us Gasheads

I hope we win because Sainsbury's have another 15 to 20 groups watching the result as they have been screwed over by them aswell, would love to see Sainsbury's on the brink after paying out £millions, they can survive but I want them to know how it feels to be that close to folding ! None of this will happen but it passes the time!

I know the chances aren't very high but a victory would mean as much to me as the Wael takeover. To make those thoroughly dishonourable scumbags honour their word would not only be a massive blow to them (considering the numerous other cases that could be influenced ), it would also send out a message to all the big money multi nationals that think they can ride roughshod over anyone with less resources.

Line up today:
Lord Justice Laws Lord Justice McCombe Lord Justice Floyd
To be fair, if those three are so good, why are they on the bench?

I just want it all out of the way now so that I can get excited about promotion and the plans for the new stadium. Onwards and upwards.

The courts are just as bad. How can it take this long to decide who won and who lost.
I've already moved on, especially as it no longer matters. But just for the record , I too hope we win, but don't expect to.

Must admit I'm pretty much resigned to losing this one and since the takeover haven't been that bothered. I'm pretty sure we'll get some kind of damages paid, but not really enough to make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things.

IANAL but as they already offered us out-of-court settlement it's probably all or nothing. The courts, especially the further up the appeal tree you go, and it doesn't get much further than this, take a dim view of those who refuse to settle and then lose. See also: Tony Pulis.

Haven't posted on this forum for a long while now, but on this subject it's clear cut:
Haven't shopped in Shitsburys since it became clear how in our case their business morals and ethics really operated.
Will never shop in Shitsburys ever, whatever the outcome today. Full stop.
There are lots of other similar cases of supermarkets and in particular Shamesburys 'changing their minds' using contractual wrangles to ride roughshod over their partners, negatively affecting local communities, and we must remember that this could have been a truly horrendous day in the history of our club... Every Gashead must NEVER forget the actions of this well known business that likes to promote its community values and ethics on its website, and must support any other clubs dealing with similar skullduggery.
May be time for some comments on their twitter/facebook page just in case anyone is in any doubt....
Rant over.

I'm pretty sure we'll get some kind of damages paid, but not really enough to make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. Surely today's verdict is just about deciding if the contract is still running or lapsed some tiwm ago? There's no half way house where the Judges could call it a draw and say we're entitled to some compensation but not the full £28m? The only way we could get compensation if we lose is if Sainsbury's felt they'd get such bad publicity, if they forced us into Admin, they should offer usd some compensation, but that's not likely now anyway under our new owners. The fact they took a charge against the Mem suggests they now want blood if they win!
