Interesting that many seem to have us finishing in an auto spot by at least 3pts. If we do I'd be surprised if it were by that big a margin!

The Guardian android app has a Div 2 table showing recent form, ours is brilliant but Monday's opponents, Carlisle, shocking. Attachment Deleted

I just want us to win on Friday and then on to the next one. So many points left to play for so many things could go great or terrible for any club yet.

OK DC but we're just having a bit of fun as it's not often we can use the a predictor for the right end of the table, probably about once a decade!!

Anyone remember those cardboard League tables given away with Shoot! Magazine in the 70s? They had little slits where you placed each of 92 cardboard team tabs. Every season I carefully weighed up the campaign ahead, and after much thought placed the cardboard Bristol Rovers at the top of Division 2 or 3. Then as the season unfolded I had to drop us by several, or usually many, places. Pre-interwebnet. Great days.

We used to play all the fixtures out on the subbuteo table and then do the league tables at the end. Good times.

It was great to do those as the results came in on a Saturday, then textext took over and now I can see the league table on my phone even before I leave the ground. I now which I got most fun out of!

I just did the Championship out of interest and had City to be safe by 6 points.
Would appear the teams around them have very tough run in's.

I've averaged everyone's responses to see what the consensus opinion is. Wisdom of crowds and all that...
Be interesting to see who is closest and how the aggregate does come May.
Northampton 102 Oxford 89 Rovers 86 ----------------------- Accrington 83 Plymouth 82 Portsmouth 80 Leyton Orient 77 ----------------------- Wimbledon 72 Luton 72 Wycombe 70 Cambridge 64 Mansfield 64

Most results went as expected today bar Oxford dropping 2 pts at home, Plymouth doing well to win at Morecambe. Oxford now face a tricky game at Cambridge next, if they fail to win that one it could blow the race for 2nd wide open if we can win at Carlisle and Plymouth also beat York.

Just thought I'd take a look at the points if everyone just matched what they got in the first fixture... Final table looks like this...
Northampton Portsmouth 83pts Rovers 81pts -------------- Oxford 80pts Accrington 80pts Plymouth 79pts
Not sure what this is supposed to show but hey ho...

Just re done. Us still third, accrington second. Oxford miss out to us by one point.!?!? I've now got us 2nd, with Oxford 3rd on GD over Accrington, with Wimbledon taking 7th from Wycombe, the latter could well hold the key as their last 3 games are Pompey, Accrington & Oxford! Exeter are nowhere near making 7th which hopefully will help us when we play them.

I recorded everyone's predictions to see how close everyone would get. I took everyone's top seven and calculated the average points difference between the predicted and actual totals. wiaww 1.86 Only poster to put that we'd go up on GD and that Wimbledon would make POs, underestimated Northampton though. @humongousmanse 2.14 Spot-on on Accy and Plymouth Malvern Gas 2.43 Slightly high on most teams zulugas 2.71 Slightly high on all teams, bar Accy. Rod1883 2.71 Only one point out on Rovers, Plymouth, Portsmouth and Wimbledon. Average of all posters 2.73 unigas 3.00 lulworthgas 3.00 Fairly accurate but really overestimated Orient. ilfracombegas 3.29 Only two points off for five teams, but predicted Wycombe to make POs. Topper Gas 3.43 Only poster to get Northampton tally right, also got Rovers right as well, but 11 points out on Orient. @twertonkid 4.00 Got Rovers tally right, but predicted Accy to finish thirrd. midlandgas213 4.14 Got Oxford right, but high on most else. bluecamel 4.29 Predicted Portsmouth to make automatic. youmadethatup 4.29 Picking Luton to make POs was costly. brisgas123 4.43 High on Northampton and Oxford fanboy 6.60 Predicting Northampton, Oxford and Accrington to win all of their games was a bold prediction. Interesting how many of us predicted Leyton Orient would make the play-offs and how they just fell away without much notice. Most people though that Northampton would easily break 100 points.
