Henbury, do you know if we are in talks with south glos regarding increased capacity and extra facilities on land around uwe ie: academy and hotel/leisure. The bigger the development, potentially the more income it brings in.

People should not focus on the £60m too much ,but wonder at the £30m . what changes to the scheme would be required to bring in a stadium £10m below the old boards guesstimate !?! Would the high figure of £60m be just for the stadium or the bigger picture ? I suspect it's for the stadium and the facilities that will be within it.

I don't think you should read to much into this as it was only an on the spot answer, and a rough estimate of how much he thought the project was worth, I very much doubt that he said £30 million because they are looking to downsize plans.

It's hard to say , i know it was an on the spot answer but it's not some random question you would never expect to be asked at BRFC ! We all know the original plans were for about £40m ....so maybe plan b was for £30m . So as a guess ,perhaps he was covering all the options from the cheapest Lego stadium with loss of some control to the highest spec stadium ,the ideal.

Is a guestimate as they are not sure of the final cost. The £40m was years ago so bound to have gone up. I really hope we build a decent training site too.

Centenary Gas is right. £40m was the project cost (confirmed by NH at the time), which included the land value, professional fees etc, as well as the actual build cost. Build cost alone for the original scheme would be around £30m. I believe the court case revealed it had risen to around £32m.

Steel would be a big part of the cost, and the price of that has plummeted in recent .. www.tradingeconomics.com/commodity/steel 1200-200 is quite a drop!

So the new Sports facility is going to cost £60m + What the hell are we building, the new Wembley ? Gulp I never thought we would be able to build a new stadium for only £30m. York City have just received approval to build their new 8000 capacity stadium - and it's going to cost £44.2m www.york.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=440381

But labour prices have increased so I doubt the build cost will have changed?
Still can't understand why we continually get all these snippets of info, we then dissect on here etc, can't they just put us out of our misery and let us know what they are now planning and when building is likely to start/finish!!!

To be honest I'm still a wee bit on the fence with the new ownership for a bit. At a minimum I was hoping for some concrete info on the building of the ground by end of the summer at latest.
Behind em, but we'll see what happens!

I liked the analogy that the landing lights are on and the undercarriage down. Surely that means we're coming in to land!

It also includes a 25m pool and various other ancillary leisure facilities. One of the advantages of the proposed bowl method of construction at UWE, is a saving in construction costs as the seating is bolted to concrete resting on the earth as opposed to being propped up by steelwork.

It isn't beyond the realms of possibility we could be knocking on the door of the championship this time next year, the mem is definitely not fit for that purpose. The momentum off the field needs to move at the same pace as on the field.
