A 60 million pound stadium would give us the sixth most expensive new stadium in the country

So Brighton's 30,750 capacity ground cost £93m in 2011. A 21,700 stadium for £60m sounds like a bargain!!

Henbury, do you know if we are in talks with south glos regarding increased capacity and extra facilities on land around uwe ie: academy and hotel/leisure. The bigger the development, potentially the more income it brings in. henbury....are you on the planning department for south glos council?

Brighton's stadium was financed entirely by an interest free loan from the owners, something it is now very clear isn't going to happen here, despite all the initial hysteria about our new owner's wealth

When you consider in 1998 they averaged 2329 and afterwards didn't get more than 7000 averages until their final year before the stadium move. It was probably viewed that 30,000 would be more than big enough ,the popularity of the new stadium has been far more than many would have expected.

But why go for a design with extension limitations? Same applies to Bolton and Huddersfields grounds. Look pretty but means a ceiling.

I never got caught in the wealth hysteria, just all the other stuff. Wael and the gang didn't get where they are now without a hell of a lot of bizniz acumen. Doesn't bother me how it's delivered, so long as BRFC are the primary beneficiaries.

I liked the analogy that the landing lights are on and the undercarriage down. Surely that means we're coming in to land! you've obviously never flown on Aeroflot. They are many other possibilities...

Look pretty but means a ceiling. 1 - without going into the whole LONG story, it took them a VERY long time to get permission etc. I suspect they were just bloody relieved to get anything sorted. 2 - It has already been extended. it started as about 22k capacity in 2011, and was extended very soon after. The East Stand had an upper tier added in mid-2012 taking it up to almost 31,000

The guy in charge of the stadium project went about half a billion pounds over budget on Wembley so 60 million looks a steal, if it comes in on budget.

If it's upto £60m against the club, rather than the owners, we're really in no better position now than under NH, apart from, probably, being better run?

I do love this forum. People waffle on about things they know nothing about, and then want others to worry about it. The wonders of the internet age !
