Agreed. He worked tirelessly and must have covered every blade of grass. It was primarily a great team effort

But why cant he use his height to win aerial battles? He never jumps. I thought Chris Lines showed his class today at times even though at times we were overrun in midfield which is a cncern

Seems to be the case v all the better teams that's why we can't afford to end up in play offs now

I remember him chipping the ball to the keeper when it would've been easier to play Taylor in clean through on goal first half and the countless times he gave possession away, both Lines and Mansell had an off day today, you're right it wasn't until Darrell beefed up the midfield that we stopped getting overrun. Gaffney put a massive shift in today, a goal and he might've been in with a shout for MOTM imo.

He was an example today to what we need to be like for however many more games we may need to play. Left everything on the pitch.
As whole, big improvement in terms of energy off the ball compared to Tuesday.

Chris Lines was the one player who put his foot on the ball and kept possession while at times others were just lumping the ball up-field to the likes of Gaffney who, as usual, lost every ball in the air.

i thought gaffney worked very hard today, making runs all over the place and keeping exeter defenders busy, hes not outstanding in the air but likes to make strong diagonal runs which i like.

I haven't really got anything bad to say about any performance tonight. Gafney certainly covered a lot of ground and never gave their defence a second to breathe, lines was a typical lines performance don't think he did a lot wrong and people say mansel had an off day but I think it was him who played the perfect ball for the all important third goal. Leads got man of the match but I couldn't really argue six or seven of them getting it. Locks and Mack were solid at the back , bodin was tricky and scored again , brown was solid , Taylor got a goal perhaps Montano could have contributed more but I'd even give him 6 out of ten he wasn't bad just not great. 2 cup finals to go. UTG.

He was immense today, his tracking back, harassing and tireless work rate was the best I've seen of him, shame he didn't get a goal to top it off. My motm by a long way. He will be important over the next couple of games. Utg

I couldn't understand what Leads did to deserve MotM, virtually every crossed either went out or to an opponent plus Exeter scored from his wing, fair play to Ollie Clark today, never a player to catch the eye but Exeter were all over us until he came on to steady the midfield.

Strange how we all go to the same game but see it different.
I thought 9 of ours worked their socks off, though Leadbitter was never MoM. The two poorest ones I felt were Lines and Taylor. Whilst you keep MT on because he can always do what he does best, Lines I'm afraid I thought was very poor, and must be replaced in the summer.
As someone said on the way home from Stevenage (in the Reading services, but now updated by me,) Taylor has been sh*t hot for two minutes in the last 270.
As for Lines? Poor last time he was here and even worse now.

Lines he has odd game some woeful passes then some great passes going to sit on fence on that one And that's lines all over and always has been. He gives us something that we lack when he's not there and since he's come back we've been better with him than without him. He ain't gonna change at this stage of his career whether he's good enough for league 1 next season , probably not but if we don't go up he should stay because he's a good squad player at this level and he's different from your average lower league midfielder. A good squad has lots of players with different attributes, take lines out of our squad and the rest are all a very similar and we lose something.

Really thought that every player gave their all today including the substitutes. Leadbitter had a good game but his crossing was very poor. Their goal was the one bit of poor defending by Tom lockyer. As regards to Montano just watch the amount of running he did and ground covered as well as setting up the first goal and probably robbed of a goal by his own player getting in the way of his shot. Personally I thought Chris Lines had a very good game but various comments made shows just how differently people can see a performance.
