Watch out for any scumbag hawkers selling their tacky goods along Filton Ave on Saturday from their stolen supermarket trolleys. Their neutral blue and white flags were made for likes of Chelsea and Everton and the hawkers are just trying to give their discards to us.
Remember no money comes to the club from these parasites. They are just out to make a quick buck for themselves. I heard an estimated £60,000 of Rovers fans money was spent on unofficial merchandise in the run up to Wembley.
Admittedly, last year the club had little money to speculate to accumulate for new produce for the play offs, and as a small fish we did not have the power to make Errea jump through hoops for us, but if we want the club to move forward we have to make sure the monies go to the right places and help back Wael.

It was quite funny seeing them wandering in the pitch amongst the fans at the promo parade. 2 - if they have a hawkers license i doubt the police could do anything even on public property.

At concerts you get huge posters around saying DO NOT BUY UNOFFICIAL MERCH etc, making people aware to expect it. I expect that's the only real way of protecting the club from these twats.

One send to see people with boards selling badges and rosettes at Eastville years ago. And Twerton in the early days.
Adds to the whole day out experience and atmosphere. But obviously it's not the politically correct thing to do. Take them to the nearest gallows I say. Or,mood depending, orf with their heads.

Playing devil's advocate...
Why don't the club sell official scarfs, flags etc in the carpark, on approach roads etc, via similar trolleys or sidebags, & try to positively 'corner the market'.
Most people don't use their initiative because no-one told then to.

Look up ' hawkers license'.
Unless they are on private property or breaching copyright there is nothing you can do except try to beat them at their own game. If the club don't bother (cf. Last season) then the vacuum will be filled by others. It's called enterprise.
There is nothing illegal about selling a blue & white scarf.
The club need to up their game.

Not only that, the quality of merchandise from these hawkers, either at football matches or rock concerts is generally the same but much cheaper. Again,it's the choice of the person who they hand over their hard earned to.

I half agree with you that Rovers fans should support the club by buying merchandise from the official outlets wherever possible, but as is well documented the quality and availability of merchandise has been pretty poor until recently. If there was £60k of unofficial Rovers merchandise sold, then it was due to the best part of £60k not being made available because we had a very lack lustre approach to getting new gear into the official outlets prior to the final, especially an absence of blue and white quartered shirts. With respect to Errea, obviously Grimsby were a "bigger fish" (no pun intended) because about 50% of their fans were resplendent in their new kit - same supplier, smaller fan base, more proactive merchandising approach. Water under the bridge now, but calling someone a "scumbag" and a "parasite" because they are trying to make a "quick buck" is unfair IMO. It is not that much different from buying a pint from the Welly or Queen Vic rather than the bars at the Mem.

To clarify, I'm unlikely to buy anything from these guys, but the club has to do more to capitalise. e.g. You can't access Pirate Leisure before the game unless you have and east stand/enclosure ticket and the portacabin hardly draws the floating 'consumer' in.

Didn't the club just link up with someone selling unofficial gear after presenting DC with said merch to mark 100 games in charge of the gas?

If you want to buy something from someone outside the ground on Saturday then go ahead and do so. The idea that we are only allowed to buy merchandise from the club is bizarre.

Cross swords, Paine Proffitt and others have shown significant creativity and enterprise in getting their unoffical merchandise out there, because the club was doing nothing similar. I don't know what the deal is, but more has been achieved in a short amount of time than in ages under BB's commercial leadership. I thought John Keyes selling his John Ward t-shirts in the car park was great at the time, but I use it as a duster now!

I'm talking about people that are flogging absolute sh**e outside the ground that isn't even particularly Rovers related except for the fact its blue and white, not about people that actually use some creatvity to bring alternative products. Anyone selling crappy cheap t shirts at gigs should go jog too.

The problem for me with the club merchandise is that I don't like the Pirate badge. The 'crossed swords' just makes me think of F Troop ( the TV programme not the Millwall mob)especially the hat. I have noticed a few of the old Tote End 'boys' wearing the Retro Rover hats and shirts with the old badge on but apparently BB thought that retro 'was old fashioned' and so the club doesn't sell it.

Where does John Keyes unofficial official merchandise lie with the OP. It's not official stuff but he works with the supporters club om other ways and the sabadell trip?
