Hi all, Sheffield Wednesday fan here in peace.
Just curious to see how Chris Lines has been doing since he joined you from Bury. Was always a fan on his when he played for us, but got injured then never really found his form, thought he could have a real done a job for a side in L1 but seems to have dropped off the radar for a bit. He was excellent in our 11/12 season from L1, remember him getting 13 assists that year looked a real quality player. How has he been playing? From what i remember was very good technically and on the ball, but just lacked that work rate to cut it in the Championship, didn't quite score enough too.
Either way hope you make it up this season, big club belong back in the higher tiers of football league!
Ta.

Thank you for your best wishes and good luck to you too in the playoffs. Personally I am a fan of Chris Lines but most on here will probably say he blows hot and cold.
He scored in the playoffs last season that helped secure our place in the final but I don't think he has scored since.
On Saturday he made several surging runs but probably has not done that enough in a lot of the games.
He does however always make himself available and is confident on the ball and is constantly taking the ball from the back 4 in deep positions.
Our team is better with him than without as long as we have a battler along side him.
Best wishes again

Bit strange to see him back after being made a scapegoat when we were relegated from league one and the man said himself he wouldn't have dropped so low unless it was for us. Has the fans back on side and was a bit of a hero last season and really came in and improved the team and got better every game. This year as above he's a bit hit and miss, and whilst some games his quality is clear and well above the majority of the league, others can go by without noticing him.
Not strange that you're not the only owl to say they rated him before he was injured. Some Rovers fans wont allow a good word to be said about him!

...this year he's a bit hit and miss, and whilst some games his quality is clear and well above the majority of the league, others can go by without noticing him.... Sums it up nicely for me. Some games he clearly stands out as (almost) a class above both team-mates and opposition players, seeking the ball time and time again and converting it into quality possession further up the field. Other times he looks like and average league two midfielder. I'd be interested to know if anyone has noticed the same but also noticed if the difference is due to opposition players or tactics.

IMO over 46 games he is someone who we should consider ourselves lucky to have

I think he started the season slow (as did the whole teeam realy).
There is no doubting his talent but he hasnt always done enough with it. That said since he came back to the team after a little absence he has been very good and has worked hardy and put himself about on top of his ability

Did a great job on his original return [on loan] last season, slow start this season, but the past few weeks, especially the last 3 games has looked very good.
Just wish he could find his goal scoring boots - has made some great runs but no end product [minor moan]
Happy.

Two successive Play Offs (at worse) from our most reliable midfielder sums it up I guess, just a pity he never learnt how to tackle but I guess if he did he'd still be a Championship player! it will be interesting to see if he can step up another gear next season if we do manage to go up.

Luckily we don't get too many dull games under DC ...but when we do get a flat period Lines is one of the players I pick out to see what he's doing off the ball. As Sean says he always makes himself available but in the last few games he's been doing that with much more forward impetus whereas previously he was shadowing their main midfield threat or making room deep so that our CBs had an outlet ball if they were stuck with it at the back. It is certainly a different Chris Lines to the one that left us in 2011 but whilst he may have lost that mercurial impetuous streak he's become a more complete midfielder. There are some Rovers fans who will still give him a hard time but for me he has shown that he is a true DC type player... Pull the shirt over your head, battle for your mates, battle for your fans, create more than the opposition and play the whole game with a never say die attitude whether that's 90+ minutes or 120+ minutes.

I am of the belief that he has added this "battling" quality to his game since his return to the side. The number of times I have had to double check this season that it was, in fact, CL making that tackle has impressed me. When he grabs the game and starts driving forward with the ball it scares the crap out of the oppo. He will find that end product - hopefully Saturday! He is and always will be someone who divide opinion.

I was amazed and pleased a few weeks ago to see Linesy 'throwing' himself in front of a shot on the edge of the box a few weeks ago

But is Chris Lines (rovers L1 player) better than the current version ?? I'd say definitely NOT. However, still a good player to have in L2 in a side like ours which plays it on the floor. But where are the goals ??
he got 11 I think in L1 (in 2009 -10).

Also worth noting that when we win promotion he will be the first Rovers player ever to play in Three promoted side's. Despite any other comments on this thread that makes him a proven winner.

Has improved massively after a shaky start to the season - probably in some of his best form i can remember now. If he could knock in a few goals he'd be a top L1 player IMO.

But where are the goals ??When I read that my genuine first thought was there *might* be one we need around 4.45, possibly a late surge into the box in front of the home end when we're level with D&R and someone else is dropping points....

When he's on form he's a class above. Best player on the pitch at Wembley v Grimsby IMO. Like many naturally talented players, he doesn't tend to run around like a headless chicken chasing lost causes so he may occasionally "go missing" against some of the hoof ball outfits of L2. If we have to go through the play offs again, I think we are good enough to get past Wimbledon. However, Pompey or Plymouth in the final worries me. On their day our defence and strikers are a match for anyone but some of the better teams have outclassed us in midfield. Lines has the ability to make the difference.

To me he stands out far more against the better teams than the teams who play anti football. Sure I've seen a few times our opposition's comments after a game that they were very impressed with him. We're probably much harsher critics than our opposition!
