Would have been a ridiculous idea to have an open top bus parade. Did we even win a trophy?!
We had our party! We celebrated on the pitch with the players! We'll have the fun day as usual where we get to meet them again - why the hell do we need them to be in a bus?!

Disgraceful decision. What a missed marketing opportunity yet again. What is it about this club? It seems Hamer is again behind this. 'We didn't win anything so why have one' Yes we did. We got back to back promotions for Christ sake. Now his reasoning on the club site has changed to saying the players will be here there and everywhere. Bullsh*t. If we hadn't gone up Saturday, presumably we would have declined to take part in the playoffs because our players were on holiday. We could have utilised the club bars, kitchens, and selling season tickets etc not to mention merchandise on the bank holiday of our playoff final. Trouble is it needs to be Wael you talk too in order to get rapport with the fans. The kids would have loved it just like last year when thousands came out to see it Presumably, if we go up via the playoffs for the next two years we won't have bus tours then either, because we haven't won anything. Don't tell him we won something more important than a trophy. WE WON PROMOTION. This really is quite a bizarre reaction! I get your point about potentially making some cash but the staff have more than earned their time off and I feel an open top bus parade after the celebrations we had AT HOME on Saturday would be massive overkill.

Sorry fanboy. My grandson stayed off the pitch as was requested by the club. So he missed out on that. He is too young to celebrate on the Gloucester Riad like our older fans. So I said, don't worry, there will be a tour just like last years at which he enjoyed himself, and cost me plenty in terms of food, drink and various items that kids love in the shop etc.
This is yet another missed opportunity by the club. My family come from Swansea, and know all about Hamer. The same issues about him arose there. The fans reps we're glad when he went, as he comes from the school of thinking ' what do the little people know about running a club'. Now it's happening again.
Mark my words, the fans directors will be ostracised completely, the young pirates set up is still waiting for him to say hello,
Just hope Wael is reachable as I don't believe for one minute he would Go along with this thinking.
Presumably, the 3-4000 that turned up at the Mem last time shouldn't have bothered. Wonder how much we made from that.
As for the staff issue, that's plainly crass. It's one day in the next three months, and if we were going to Wembley, they would have had to work on ( hopefully) selling three lots of tickets. That would have entailed more than one day's work. Our owners have already stated that we need to utilise the stadium more than we do now. This golden opportunity has been allowed to go the way of so many others.

What a shame that after such a historic event in the clubs history all you can do is sit around sharpening your knives waiting for a opportunity to slag off the club #shitfan

Seems an odd decision as from recent history it could be years before we get promoted again, even the players sounded surprised tonight when told on the BBC show that there was no open bus tour.

I'm amazed at the support on here for the decision not to have a bus tour. I have no idea why that decision was made, or who made it, but given the jubilation all over north Bristol at the weekend, I just expected a bus tour would naturally follow.

I'm no killjoy and I appreciate where fans are coming from in regards to the youngsters but come on ! let the boys have an extended break I think they've earned it don't you? to be fair to the players and staff on Saturday they were still walking around and mingling with the fans when I left at 7:00pm , before I get shot down in flames I know it's back to back promotions and what an absolute amazing achievement it is but we did finish 3rd which means no trophy or runners up medals to show off , which is the main reason for an open top bus ( I assume ) anyway let's not get wound up over this ? It's really not important let's just bask in our glory as we don't need an open top bus for that ! UTG !!!!!

We celebrated with the players last season at Wembley but still had a bus tour, by the time we get to the open day (assuming one will take place?) everybody will be thinking about next season not winning promotion this season. It's the first controversial decision by our new owners but I won;t be losing any sleep over it

Open top busses are for people who win a trophy to show off in a parade.
Champions and Wembley winners only.
Bus rides for 3rd is cringeworthy.

Totally agree Bus ride could be viewed as cynical marketing the gas are well back on the map , I think this is the right decision and not at all controversial it needs to slowly sink in I think that not every single thing needs to be milked from the fans. We have money and this week. Glory
