Bristol City have signed Juventus and Iceland defender Hordur Magnusson on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee. 3 year deal! Wow, that's a strong shout for a reserve player.

It was me.
I've seen Bradley for Aldershot, Pompey and Crawley and usually had a good game.
Haven't seen so much of Hartley apart from last season but struggling to find a Plymouth fan who thinks he is anything but an average L2 CB.
I think we got the wrong Plymouth CB to be honest, but i'll be happy to be proved wrong.

Thought Hartley told Plymouth he was leaving, how's that "getting rid" of a player? Does that mean we've got rid of MT if he signs for a Championship club? You aren't half coming out with some negative rubbish on here today! Ok fair enough I used the wrong phrase 'get rid', i've spoken to Plymouth fans who felt he needed to leave for them to progress, and that in L2!! Not sure where you are getting negative posts from as ive made none today? . Would be interested to know what fans you have spoken to about him. Living in Cornwall I know a lot of Plymouth fans and they were sad to see him go. They said he is commanding and a good leader.

Just various Plymouth fans on forums really, I literally haven't seen one who thought Hartley would do well at L1 level.
I don't think its sour grapes because he turned them down, as they all seem to rate Nelson.

Forum fans, like the Torquay ones who said Mansell was past it and not good enough for non league! Nelson might be the better of the 2, a lot thought he would go to the Championship. We already have Lockyer though, that is similar, we need someone good in the air, good at organising etc. If we didn't have Lockyer I would have went for Nelson, but Hartley is more suited to playing with Lockyer, by the sounds of it.

If you don't stop scraping you're going to put a hole in the bottom of the doom and gloom barrel! Similar sentiments here in Devon to the ones in Cornwall; Argyle fans are sad to see Hartley leave. It seems that the mysterious forum naysayers are in the minority...

It's just an opinion based on what people have told me who have watched him for the whole time he was at Argyle. I've seen other CB's go to other clubs, some in L2 that I would say are better than Hartley, but as I said before that's why I pay to watch matches and not paid for the privilege. You have to trust DC though, and I hope he proves me wrong again.

Yes I hope he will fit in better with what we already have and compliment Lockyer, DC will know this and tbf he hasn't been wrong much.
One thing I do worry about Hartley is that Plymouth were under the impression he wanted to move closer to Hartlepool. Technically Bristol is, but it's a worry he might be off again like with the Monkhouse situation.

Norman Smurthwaite: Port Vale chairman wants League One top-six challenge: Smurthwaite has so far sanctioned 11 signings for new boss Bruno Ribeiro as Vale target a challenge for promotion to the Championship in 2016-17.
Ribeiro sacked by Xmas! Remember Notts Cunty last season?

Vale have signed a couple of decent players in Anton Forrester and Jerome Thomas, not sure about the foreign contingent.

We Gas fans are wiser than thou - we have been shown the ways of DC and the "play your guts out until the 95 minute or go feck yourself." DC for England!

Gashead1979 Hartley is a big bruiser of a centre half who will add power in the air over the very weak Parkes who I feel we did well to get rid of. Hartley will be a reliable centre half who will add half a dozen goals as well and I am confident he will be just what we need alongside Lockyer. Nelson would have just been pushing Lockyer for his place but can you afford to have 2 very good players going for one place? I think not- a luxury we could not afford especially as we have James Clarke and McCrystal and I still would not be surprised to see another defender come in.

Still like to see some more signing. Based on 3 friendlies I've watched, a center midfielder of league one quality would go long way. Need someone who can control the game. Another striker for me too. Tall and pacey.
There are players in our squad who I think will struggle to step to league one level. And worry there is not enough depth and quality options outside what I imagine will be our starting 11.

Nelson was the worst player on the pitch in the playoff final. No control and could not pass. We have the better of the two

For me another CM that can get the ball and dictate play and big pacey striker is required, think our defensive options are quite sound.
