I'm confident we have the right manager in Clarke and have been encouraged by what I have seen so far in pre season and the first game.
However, I do not trust our board one bit, it seems obvious to me we are trying to do things on the cheap again and I think it is a shame that Clarke hasn't received that extra bit of backing to be able to have a squad ready and capable of challenging from the off.
I do thing we have made some good signings though and Sinclair, Taylor and White in particular will prove good value for money.

'We are doing things on the cheap again'.
Again? Our wage budget for the last 5 years has been crazy.

When you got no money to have to do things on the cheap Lambert, Smith etc. Grimsby had about 5/6 players out Saturday yet their squad was still as big as ours without them.

I like Clarke, first manager in a long time that I feel confident and optimistic with. He's the right man to take us forward IMO.

I feel like the Barnet game tomorrow is a must win. I know that's ridiculous but we really need to start well or our fans can be poisonous and turn and he'll be gone by Christmas. Gotta start well and a draw, whilst ok, leaves us needing to do well tomorrow now. Fingers crossed.

Obviously I'm hopeful of a win, it would certainly show our intentions after Barnet's 5-0 victory on Saturday. A draw tomorrow followed by wins against the two promoted sides (Altrincham and Telford) won't be easy, but would be an excellent start in my book. Then we go to Forest Green with a bit of momentum and can hopefully finish August on a strong note.

I can see your point with a draw but 2 points after 2 would see us looking in a sh** position to be honest and very few fans are objective enough to actually realise that we need some time to settle and develop as a team. Especially after Buckle made the word 'gel' a no go. A loss tomorrow (not humiliating) would leave us looking in a pretty crap position and obviously it's only 2 games but certainly not starting on fire as we'd have hoped. Let's hope DC can get us right... After last season an away win would be amazing to start the season with.

I'm not worried though about Clarke, HE IS the right man.

Hopefully those fans would recognise we've probably had the toughest start out of every team in the league, and whilst the 'g word' is banned it will take some time to settle and develop as you say. I expect Grimsby and Barnet to finish in the play-offs or higher, so to be picking points up from those teams at this stage is certainly a positive. As I say, a draw on Tuesday followed by two wins would leave us on 8pts after 4, which I don't think many fans would argue with Hopefully a win tomorrow relieves a bit of pressure going into those two games.

Barnet where up against a very poor team who had a player sent of early doors But that's why its so hard to judge where Barnet are in terms of challenging for the league this year. Chester had a man sent off, but we've often struggled against sides with 10 men so I can't see it just being that. So either Barnet have an excellent side at this level, or Chester were so busy recruiting players for Conference North that once they were reprieved their squad just wasn't good enough for Conference Premier. We'll obviously see tomorrow night!

I think by the end of September we should know how our season will pan out. 5 Debut players on Saturday still finding their feet IMO We will get stronger and stronger as each game goes. Clarke will get the best he can out of whatever the squad size. As with the Higgs circus they really need to Re-evaluate a lot of things. Weather it's there are enough pasties for sale to keeping your bar manager. Beer lines don't clean them selves.

If was still 0-0, then Chester could (but probably wouldn't) have hung on. As it was they needed to score. Quite a long time to hang on too.

No, we don't. They have 24, we have 20. No they have 20, we have 21/22 including Mitchell. I suggest you go on both teams websites. Mitchell isn't out player. Trotman is probably the 21st as didn't see him on there.
