A couple of bad months (if that) at the start of the season in League 1 and I guarantee he'll be wishing he went to Leeds.

If Rovers are mid table at Christmas we will all forgive him
If Leeds are mid table at Christmas he will be out of work.
Not sure how much cash it needs to overcome that

This is a test... DC continually says this is the best bunch yet, all in it together. I've promised them new deals if we go up. Now it's time for DC to show his colours. He got the job by default some would say. He has now used that opportunity to improve himself and prove himself to the wider footballing community. How much of what DC has so far achieved, is just down to him I do not know. We need to remember that he has assembled a very good team of staff around him (this is what the pre appraoch clauses must have in them - no taking staff or players etc). Does he owe us anything? Sort of. There can be no denying that fact that when JW recruited him, he was there to be his successor, that came about in slightly odd circumstance but it came about. If this was the old guard in charge, he would have already gone - no pre approach clauses inserted, nothing. Hell, he would have probably taken half the team with him too. However, this is not "Ragbag" rovers anymore. We are dealing with this in a professional way. And now we have some ambition and clout to back it up why would he go.... He will be afforded more time, more errors - more "my way" if he stays. If he joins this mad man as the Leeds fans are calling him then he will have no margin for error - just look, they are approaching people whilst they have a manager in post! DC has all the opportunity to learn more here, then inevitably move on. For now though, he would be crazy. I would have thought he is still on his original contract, when did the new guys update the old one ?

I'd be surprised if DC is going anywhere.
You can't promise your whole squad new contracts then leave and I can't see him doing that.
Leeds want a first team coach not a manager. Their owner has said he doesn't understand English managers who want to be in charge of everything. I can't see DC wanting a continental style coach only role.
Time will tell. In DC we trust tho!

It will be something that Wael and the board will have wrote up, that Leeds will have to agree to before we allow them to have talks with DC. Very sensible imo

I tweeted in jest this Morning that DC joining Leeds would be a backward step for him and you wouldn't believe the amount of aggro I got from Sh1!heads that I don't even know...!!! FFS....and they say they are not obsessed with us !!

Why? They'll be all happy they've got 12 months contracts, any who aren't don't have to stay anyway - perhaps that explains why most of them haven't signed yet!! The only one likely to be p'ed off is Lockyer but he could always follow him to Leeds anyway. I wonder what we are demanding before DC can speak to Leeds an agreement on his release price if he decides to join them? it's a pity he wasn't offered a longer contract prevously.

Good thoughts Topper. We should have got Tom (which we did) and DC signed up quickly. I would add Matty but he was already lookin around and would have proved difficult. The problem we have is as stated officially "all players will be offered new deals". I think the issue is if rumours are to be believed that those are not "improved deals" maybe DC is among those until now offered a new deal not necessarily an improved one. UTG

If he is on a 12 month rolling contract, probably that it would be paid up in full, with some other legal mumbo jumbo.

The Post are claiming that the three year deal he's been offered is on 'significantly reduced terms'.
Surely that can't be right?
It has been revealed today that he has been offered a three-year-deal on significantly reduced terms to replace the 12-month rolling contract that he has been on since taking the job.

I honestly think that DC will sign a new 3 year contract with us and say thanks but no thanks to Leeds, he knows he's on a good thing here and we are heading in the right direction and he definitely feels some affiliation with us supporters after the last two years we've all been through together.
Also think he's very much a man of his word and after saying he's staying until he's got us into the top half of league 1 I think he will, although he said that before Wael and family bought us so possibly thinks he can take us further now, why not?
One another thing is that being as young as he is I think he's one to play the long game in terms of his career and another good year or two and maybe even another promotion with us and he really would be being courted by bigger clubs.

Because any new manager would not want to necessarily inherit someone else's squad with little room to add your own, FFP and all that. The club shouldn't be planning to retain on that scale then allow one crucial piece of the jigsaw puzzle to go. That would be poor planning by everyone concerned. This could well be irrelevant anyway. I reckon he will stay
