For me it was Paul Randall, for years people that I worked with or drank with said things like "Rovers, get a good player and sell him, they are never going anywhere",and I ignored them. When Paul signed for Stoke though I couldn't deny the facts any longer,it was the end of me being a fan (meaning fanatic) I just became a bloke who went to Rovers games ( now only away games).
Has anyone else been upset by a player or manager leaving ?.
Btw if DC goes I will understand why ( money makes the world go round ) and thank him for the memories, but I hope that he will be replaced by someone other than the cheapo option...Cotterill would be my choice.

I've only been supporting since the PT days, so it's gonna have to be PT and Lambert.
Not that PT had had much competition.

Randall but I was only about 10 at the time! Genuinely upset and shocked, remember it being on points west very vividly

Bobby Gould back in the mid eighties, left just before last game of the season, to go to Coventry, really thought we were on the up with him in charge, no loyalty, no nothing, even now if he's on tv I switch off, and also upset when Paul Randell went to Stoke, but I was happy for him, went for £175,000, he came home for £50,000, if my memory serves me well. Keep the faith, Allah be praised.

GF but that was inevitable. Steve white. Knew then we were in big big trouble. Alan warbouys because I was young and naive enough to think players loved the club as much as the fans. DC would annoy me more than it should. He owes us nothing really, two promotions is fantastic. it would just be because it doesn't seem we can keep people, even with the new owners, loyal fans and the 'journey' just beginning.

Lewis Haldane.
Not really....it was when Stewie left for Huddersfield. The fact they had just beaten us in the play off final made it ten times worse.

Josh Low. He was a very dedicated lad, good player, promising youth. One of the best in his age group. Source?-I was in it. Unfortunately our impatient mob decided he was sh1t and heckled him to the point of ruining his confidence. All before he was 20. He went on to play professionally until around 5 years ago.

Losing strikers that did well was always going to happen at clubs like rovers and it was always a case of joy at having a good player followed by nervousness of the interest from other clubs then the fear of how are we going to score now ! I always felt sorry for the "replacement" striker who from day one would have half the fans screaming in anger at the smallest of mistake. Not because they were poor but because they were not their former Messiah. Within a handful of games they either got accepted or were the Antichrist every touch sneered at. The same at all clubs I'm sure. Who would have thought Twentyman would have become a radio presenter ,or boothroyd to lead Watford into the premier league surprises happen.
The player that left rovers that upset the most ? Mike Barrett.

Gerry Francis first time. I was absolutely gutted at the time apparently the club could not match his ambition, if only these new guys could have been around then
