To my mind there is no way that DC would of signed a 3 yr contract if he thought UWE wasn't going to happen . Depends what salary they offered him. Would anybody of sound mind really take the Leeds job if they were already in management. Hence why I assume they had to turn to Gary Monk.

When asked about funding, I thought SH actually said it has to be feasible - I took that as being we have conditional funding. ISTM that to get the funding UWE either have to sell us the land or naming rights to the stadium. This seems different to what SH said in Feb, when he basically said there needs to be a bit of give & take between the two parties. UWE are obviously dealing with a different beast now compared with the last board, but do they really care about a stadium & are they rich enough to play hardball. Hopefully we will know in the next few weeks. He also said something I found strange - re building the stadium he said it was inevitable, whether it's us or someone else, could it be Wael could walk if we can't build UWE? As I think it would be another 10 years finding & approving another site if UWE falls over. It's probably me feeling very pessimistic, after the euphoria of the 7 May & DC agreeing to 3 years. Still, next few weeks might see some progress SH also said during the meeting they had in Jordan that they told Wael the Mem wasn't feasible in the long term, which was surprising as I thought that was obvious to everyone? Perhaps Wael's getting cold feet about the investment required given SH's odd comments about somebody else building the UWE, although he does seem to be getting into the habit of saying more than he needs to.

I thought Hamer, by saying anyone would need to build a new stadium, was not suggesting that someone else might need to come in and build it, but simply that there is no competitive future for the (any) club without a decent stadium. So whoever owned the club would need to build one, ie, it's imperative that one be built. But yeah, Hamer's conversational manner and chattiness seems to leave himself open for misinterpretation. He seemed to specifically call that interview in order to remove a misinterpretation caused by his last interview, and then he creates a new one. This is why anyone to do with football these days seems to just want to give short sharp interviews with as little flavour and elaboration as possible.

I agree. I'd rather he made the odd minor gaffe and continued to speak honestly rather than straight bat answers back as is the modern way.

My interpretation of that interview is that Hamer is impatient with delays and is almost trying to push the al qadi's into getting on with it, hence comments like 'it has to happen' and 'i've been to Jordan and told them the mem is unsustainable'. Although why this very obvious point needs to be uttered is quite surprising.

Perhaps the conversation went something like:
SH "The UWE seem to be dragging their feet after we put the freehold off to them"
Weal "What about developing the Mem instead"
SH "No chance of that we must move to the UWE to progress"
Which is a conversation most of us have had on the forum etc at some point in the past.

Or he fancies another "presidential" procession as isn't going to get one of those at the UWE

Bristol City fan here in peace. I don't get a lot of the stuff about immigrants and economics, but I know one thing. When we all vote on Thursday to decide if you sags stay at the Mem or leave Bristol forever, I wants you out.

Surely SH is making official announcements on behalf of the club?
