Shops etc don't need to be fitted out for a ground to pass H&S tests. We just need the ground to be safe for spectators.

Pretty sure SH or Wael suggested they would be no major changes to the plans which would require seeking further planning permission, plus it's a 62 week build so we're probably 2 years away from the new stadium being finished, assuming we can come to some agreement with the UWE this summer & can still finance it post Brexit. If we can't and now have to find a new site/stadiumplans we could be 5 or more years away whihc doesn't bare thinking about,. it was never a 62 week build that was another Nick Higgs "exaggeration" I don't think that can be laid at NH's door. The construction plan submitted along with the planning application is quite clear. 5 weeks lead in time, 63 weeks construction, 4 weeks testing, giving 72 weeks in total. Buckingham Group are not going to have their construction schedule put into the public domain, if they have no chance of meeting it. It would be very poor for business. Large projects are usually time-wise, about one third foundations, one third building, one third fitting out. The bowl construction technique probably shortens the foundation section, so I would be surprised if the numbers submitted are very much out.

Wow, so it's all systems go then with freehold issue, or whatever issue it was, seemingly resolved? “There was a previous agreement but that had some issues attached that we weren't comfortable with,” Hamer said, when asked by XtraTime about negotiations with UWE back in May. “Those issues have now been addressed and all being well there will be no other hurdles that we have to surmount. “UWE, without question, is the preferred site. Conversations are pretty advanced and have been for some time and both sides would be extremely disappointed if it didn't fulfill itself.” It seems an odd place to make a statement of this magnitude?

Is this really any different to what's previously been said by Hamer on subs bench though? If issues are resolved why hasn't there been an official announcement and a start date?

I can't recall SH ever saying all the issues have been resolved just that they were hopeful of resolving them,I read that as now meaning it's just a case of sorting out the small print of the contracts etc, not a fundamental issue between the two parties stopping the project. Although SH could have well said again more than he was meant to.

Having read the article SH does seem to be sure everything is agreed. It does seem a bit, no a lot strange that he chose to use those words on that relatively obscure forum rather than be as specific on the O S, the Evil, on Subs Bench etc etc.
This does jive with something I was told on Saturday at Salisbury, when I was told that everything has been agreed, but it can't be signed off by UWE until the full Senate returns from the summer recess.
I don't know how long a break these university types have, I left eduction at age 16. However, she who leaves no shadow tells met hat a lot of these university high-up's travel to far flung places for conferences, workshops etc.
It seems we will have to be patient, perhaps all will be revealed late summer.

Can we change the title to 'No UWE news imminent?' Or 'nothing to see here.' From time to time I see the thread title I click on it with a sense of expectation, only to leave the thread deflated like an old balloon!

What an admission to make, 2nd May 1990! You've let yourself down there.
