Great news and he strikes me as a good influence on others in the squad. I think however he will be a squad man at the next level and a quality CB is a priority when we enter the transfer market.

Think Macca is a great one to have around the club. No doubt he's been told it's unlikely he'll be starting but there's no reason he can't still make an impact when required. If we do play 3 CB's again as Darrell likes to occasionally - especially at the start of the season - he may still get onto the pitch.

Clarke doesn't like to play him when we start with wingbacks for some reason. I like Macca, solid defender who sticks to the basics, wins his headers and organises the back four. Good professional to have around the squad too. I'm pleased he's signed on!

good news, just parkes left from last season's defence unless im mistaken yet to sign up. still think we could do with a new centre back to partner locks and maybe a back up left back?

I think MM is a big reason for Tom Lockyers development too.

Agree with everything said, good to have Macca signed up, great influence on younger players and a massive help to Tom. I think his form in the last 10 games was critical in getting us over the line last year but I still expect us to sign an experienced CH to play with Tom with Macca as cover. BTW I suspect Parkes has played his last game for the club, just a feeling but I don't think Darrell will be desperate to hold him!

I think MM is a big reason for Tom Lockyers development too. Yes, TL always plays better alongside Macca. Great signing, dependable, does the job esp when man-marking a big striker. Over the run in last season was very consistent and his calmness was huge but being a defender gets a lot less credit. Very pleased he has signed and not too sure I agree with others who see him only as a squad player. Will often be done for pace but he reads play very well and leads the team well.

Clarke rates Alfie Kilgour highly and the few times I have seen the reserves he looks good. I predict he will make some appearances next year. Bit risky given his lack of experience but I think the club want to focus on giving our youth a chance. That will effect how many CB's are required.

I think Kilgour will go out on loan along with some of the others (Broom, Lyttle etc). Hopefully now we are in L1 these young pro's could be loaned at a higher level i.e conference (as Lucas did last year). Kilgour looks a prospect but think it is too early for him and can't see him making an impact next year, a season of playing mens football (on loan) will help him. Given the new loan rules Darrell may be reluctant to loan some of the other younger lads Lucas, Greenslade and Malpas he may want to keep them with the squad but they need games. Much will depend on the 4/5 new signings I guess. Getting excited now!!!

Pleased that he's signed especially if it's true that Parkesy has gone to Orient. We'll need a quality CB to play alongside Lockyer as Macca might be stretched at League one level. Rest assured though he'll give his all when called upon. A damn good character to have around too.
