Is it bad that I just don't care anymore? I don't. Stewart, Hayles, Lambert, Roberts, Cureton... pretty much guarenteed 20+ goals, proved in the division we were in. Taylor is untested at league one level, and there is a risk we could be left with a very expensive striker who isn't up to the job. Remember Richard Walker? Be nice if he stays, don't care if he doesn't. Would of liked an answer sooner.

Today isn't actually the start of pre season training? I thought it was just some sort of post pre season fitness assessment. Surely it's either post-postseason or pre-preseason?

If he does sign with us, do you think it will cause friction with other players knowing he is on the best contract ever offered to a Rovers player?

Is it bad that I just don't care anymore? Nah, I don't either. I think he'd be class in League One, but for the sake of planning the squad for next season I just want it done one way or the other so we can move on and bring in a replacement. Although I'm sure DC already knows whether he's staying or not and will have names in mind to bring in.

I assume if MT moves on his replacement could well be on similar money in any event? At the end of the day whoever is our highest paid player this season is likely to be the best paid ever given we've not been in Div 1 for a few years.

I was thinking yesterday actually that maybe the club know he is going, but we are waiting on his replacement to be sorted and will announce it all in one go, hence the time taken ? To soften the blow if you like...
Lambert was probably the highest earner in recent years, but then I'm sure he only signed to get us a fee for him.

Perhaps that's the explanation, or they just gave MT until midnight tonight to decide. I'm surprised the B Post haven't said anything about whether he's turned up for training today, unless they've been sworn to secrecy.
Somebody posted a link earlier to show that Lambert actually signed the summer before he moved on.

The Bristol Post are probably doing what they normally do, scouring the net for page fillers. Can't remember the last time I saw a 'scoop' from them.

If a new club has taken over his contract then Rovers have to make sure his new club don't announce it first, which they can do from tomorrow.

Surely they need our permission to announce signing him if he is still under contract?

Isn't it just a case of 'We are signing Matty Taylor from July 1' sort of thing, like we had with Hartley?

If he has signed for someone else then what other reason would they have not to tell their own fans by now?

He can't sign until tomorrow, I believe. He can agree to sign in advance though as the rules state. Most clubs announce that these days, as we did with Hartley etc. So it's not a case of him not being able to sign for someone else.

Accrington players signed some deal with Celtic half way through the season, not sure what but everyone knew they were going

Accrington players signed some deal with Celtic half way through the season, not sure what but everyone knew they were going Rangers actually. Easy mistake to make between those two

How about this conspiracy that I'm cooking up.
Say Matty Taylor signed for any club presumably there would be a limit to what he could earn based on budgets tied by Financial Fairplay.
However, if Matty Taylor became a free agent for a day. Wael could hand his mate a nice little brown paper bag, nothing untoward about that?
