Or we suddenly come up with the money and MT re-signs for us as it'll be a disaster, publicity wise for Wael, if he joins another promoted team then as aniother good season?

Roofe has just signed for Leeds United.
Announcement that Matty has joined Oxford in next 48 hours?
Nice deal for Oxford if true, sell Roofe for 2 million Plus add ons then get someone in who scored more goals than Roofe last season on a free!
Just shows the value of keeping your better players under contract.
Why would he go there unless it's silly money? All this talk of him going on to better things and a higher league. To go to Oxford makes no sense

But what does that tell you about Matty
Leeds pay £2m? for a player but could have had Matty on a freeby?

I can only imagine its because Roofe is a few years younger and shown he can do the business against higher levels clubs last season in the cup games Oxford had.
Roofe got a lot more press last season as well due to those cup exploits.

Maybe MT turned Leeds down because he's not as mercenary as some might suggest? Can't imagine why anyone would go to Leeds other than for the money.

Typical that first home game of the season is Oxford as well.

Could be wrong though!

28 wasnt it? rangers have signed windass from accrington though also following your argument through, leicester wouldnt bother with vardy, spurs with deli ali and we wouldnt have signed paul randall just because he scored a few in the western league!! (1) Could have been 38. & how much does the 28 owe to a team virtually built around him & a manager who had a lot of faith in him? Which won't apply elsewhere (2) Yeah - Paul Randall - got dream move to Stoke where manager Alan Durban shoved him out on the wing. No surprise he did nothing there & was soon back with us. That didn't last long sadly & his career was over. Classic wrong move. I could cite many others. Christian Benteke the most recent. OK, he might have made a few fast bucks but has it enhanced his career? you can only become a top player or a better player by moving to a top club or a club at a higher level, some make it and some dont . the other factor in a short career is financial security which a move might give him

Still can't see the attraction of going back to Oxford if he wants to progress with his career?
Seemingly shocking business by NH, &DC?, letting a player leave for free when we could have got £100K's, if not £1m's, for him, or at least retained his services for a couple more seasons.

If he was undecided about joining a championship team or staying with us, so be it. If it's about Oxford or us, and he joins Oxford then it's purely money. That would be very upsetting. Of course he's not a fan of rovers, it's his job, but even so....

I respect players more who want to earn money by testing themselves at a higher level than the mercenaries who end up dropping leagues to play for the likes of Portsmouth, FGR and Eastleigh.

We've lost 1 player from 2 promotion squads. Worthwhile risk compared to previous history. Imagine Jamie White, Blissett, Parkes, Balanta etc still having a year or more left to run on massive contracts. Yeah, it's a shame we've lost money on a single potential transfer but we've also saved £1000s on a lot of other players.

Let's hand out 3 year contracts instead. That worked out well in the past...

Correct. I'm 99% sure he's an actual Oxford fan. He was filmed in amongst the fans in the pub before Wembley for their playoff final at the end of the season just finished
