I have just got back from a few weeks hols. I am aware the south west stand is up and the south stand as had some changes. However: can anyone confirm the south stand have been extended a few sections or is it still the same length ??. Same length. Would make the ground look so much better if it was full width but the new scoreboard is in the way.

Plus cables for CCTV etc apparently, I guess it's a good sign (for the UWE) that the club don't feel it's worth the expense in moving them.

Via twitter..... I'd rather watch football from this little terrace than a certain multi-millon pound stand.

Something tells me we will be at the mem for a lot longer than anyone currently realises. That's a bit of a strange comment. Unless you know how long Thatchers have agreed to sponsor that particular terrace? Anything up to 3/4 years shouldn't have any impact on people's thoughts about a new ground surely? We're we expecting no new sponsorships or partnerships at all? Life has to carry on no matter what is happening behind the scenes. That being said, I don't feel a new stadium any time soon either but not based around an advertising hoarding..

Not basing it on an advertising hoarding in isolation, the mem improvements in general and the silence surrounding the uwe project seem to suggest that the direction of travel is uwe falling through and a gradual improvement of the mem. Hope i'm proved wrong. I'll be amazed if we're not still here at the start of the next decade.

I thought you were going to say start of the next century.

But they put in a clock mate, a bloody clock, not a small one either, do you know how expensive and permanent clocks are nowadays?

A wooden apple screwed onto the roof of a terrace doesn't sound like anything permanent to me. Granted things are quiet on the UWE front, but until we hear of planning permission for something like a new and permanent south stand then these minor improvements mean nothing significant to me. We're going to be here for at least a couple of years so is it so unthinkable that Wael would want to tidy the place up a bit?

More confident now, if they throw good money at the old pile of dilapidated buildings that is the Mem, imagine how much they will throw at a NEW building !
