Chris Waddle played for Burnley - took banter from the crowd about penalties very well!

You left out a Midfielder who would be the first name on the team sheet in his day. GAZZA the legend. I don't remember Gazza playing at the Mem? Graveson played though and he ended up being a Galactico!!!!!

I don't remember Gazza playing at the Mem? Thats because he never. I just checked and he was rested. Played the first leg. strange as im sure that he played in the league cup game at ours. Can even picture it in my head. maybe he was there to watch? I thought he came off the bench?

Darren Anderton is another, not sure he would budge any of the original midfield, and Mark Walters!

Jose Fonte was playing for saints in league 1 and has now just won the European cup with Portugal. Fair play to him. Apparently not good enough to keep John o'Shea out of the starting 11

Didn't Julian Dicks play against us at the Mem? Not sure, definitely Twerton though. Yeah I remember him playing twice against us for West Ham at Twerton. Hard barstard, a bit like Stuart Pearce but with less quality. Isn't he from Bristol too ?

I remember the 2nd leg at Upton Park, he scored a penalty right in front of us, after he had the sheeeeed ed reception, he ran in front of us giving it the two fingers.

I think from this we can agree the Mem hasn't exactly been graced with a lot of top footballers?
This must be down to the lack of top friendlies and consistently crap cup records.

Not sure I agree at all - read over the team in the OP again. What more could we have possibly had in English football? It hasn't got Ronaldo, Zidane etc but it's one step down. The fullbacks aren't quite up to standard but other than that it's a great side, at their peaks would have easily challenged for the premier league.

I agree the quality is there, maybe just not the quantity

I believe so. His brother, Grantley, used to play too. Bath City wasn't it? My brother occasionally drank with him.

Maybe some one could suggest a best twerton XI, and eastville, which really saw the best?

Maybe some one could suggest a best twerton XI, and eastville, which really saw the best? Ian Holloway (and Gary Penrice, I think) would be the only two I recall that would be eligible for all three grounds.
