Evening Gasheads.
Yesterday's friendly against Aston Villa and the potential appearance of some high profile players got me thinking; who are the biggest names to have played at the Memorial Stadium and what would a squad look like? A combination of pre season boredom and intrigue led me to the following:
Manager: Sir Alex Ferguson
GK: Joe Hart (vs Shrewsbury - 26th December 2005)
DR: Lucas Neil (vs West Ham - 18th August 2007) DC: John O'Shea (vs Man Utd - 30th July 1999) DC: Rio Ferdinand (vs West Ham - 28th July 1998) DL: Paul Konchesky (vs Fulham - 22nd February 2008)
MR: David Beckham (vs Man Utd - 30th July 1999) MC: Paul Scholes (vs Man Utd - 30th July 1999) MC: Frank Lampard (vs West Ham - 28th July 1998) ML: Edgar Davids (vs Barnet - 1st February 2013)
SC: Ian Wright (vs West Ham - 28th July 1998) SC: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (vs Man Utd - 30th July 1999)
Bench: GK: Wojciech Szczesny (vs Brentford. 17th April 2010) DC: Richard Dunne (vs Everton - 22nd September 2000/ vs Aston Villa - 7th January 2012) DC: Jose Fonte (vs Southampton - 13th April 2010) MC: Thomas Graveson (vs Everton - 22nd September 2000) MC: Kieron Dyer (vs West Ham - 18th August 2007) SC: Craig Bellamy (vs West Ham - 18th August 2007) SC: Emile Heskey (vs Aston Villa - 7th January 2012)
Others to miss out on the squad include Adam Lallana (Southampton), Clint Dempsey (Fulham), Ashley Williams (Stockport) and Stiliyan Petrov (Aston Villa).
No doubt I've missed others though so put forward any names...

Mark Walters would be in my team!
They wouldn't beat a Twerton Park All Stars team though!

What was the name of that lad we got from Norwich. Bloody brilliant player, but his knees were shot. He ended up retiring really young. Was it Jamie Shore?? He was one of the best players I've seen at the Mem. He just oozed quality.

Didn't Dyer break his leg in that game? Well, Joe Jacobson broke it, technically.

ML: Edgar Davids (vs Barnet - 1st February 2013) - the way he had that water-poor Barnet team playing one-touch-pass-and-move-triangles football - I cannot understand why a championship hasn't taken him on. What a waste.

You left out a Midfielder who would be the first name on the team sheet in his day. GAZZA the legend.

I just checked and he was rested. Played the first leg. strange as im sure that he played in the league cup game at ours. Can even picture it in my head. maybe he was there to watch?
