One day, in the far distant future, we can tell our grandchild that, yes, we did actually have a seat in that thing long, long ago, and chuckle. Which will be quite easy if they are sitting in it next to you watching a match. Can we rename this stand to the "Gerald Ratner stand" as like his jewellery, it looks cheap & tacky Surprise it just looks like the old SW Stand and similar to the S Stand god knows what fans expected, the club to spend £100K+ on some fantastic looking temp. stand only for it (hopefully) to be demolished in a couple of years, I'd sooner money spent on the playing squad than wasted on a fantastic looking temp stand.

I doubt that the money saved on building a proper stand will be spent on players, I hope that I am proved wrong.
The South West stand will increase the number of seats but does that increase the stadium capacity ?
I think that as the average age of supporters goes up stadiums will need more seats as some people become unable to stand for a whole game, it will be interesting to see Rovers attendances this season.

Obviously the city lot will take the p1ss out of tents, a new canopy and pastie sheds, but the more astute amongst them will be laughing half heartedly. They will realise that whilst people would rather sit in tents at Rovers than go to the renovated AG and watch city's expensive players Bristol will remain a 2 club city and that will stop them from having top flight football long term. I took great delight in reminding them of this 2 seasons ago when they took the p1ss out of Rovers plight in the conference, there is 5 or 6000 who would rather watch non league Rovers than go to city ! in a city that cant get regular crowds of 20,000 that dooms any premiership hopes (long term),oh how they must have wanted Rovers to go bust and disappear.

The oldies are OK standing. The barriers are like giant fixed zimmer frames for them.

Of course it looks Conference standard, that's because the new owners are using sticking plasters to mend a worn out, unfit for use stadium and will be doing so, probably, for at least two seasons or until the new ground is built. But what do we expect? They are trying, I presume, to maximise income streams, meet the demand for tickets and show us fans that they are on the ball. I know it doesn't look brilliant but well done to them for thinking we need to improve the Mem as a short term measure. The increased cost of doing so should be reimbursed by the additional gate income generated. And TBH I don't give a monkeys about what the other half think. Let them fill in their pages in OTIB because it only shows how worried they are. And if we don't like it don't read it, I don't! Well done the board! UTG! Agreed mate. At least the new lot are trying to maximise the stadium, it may not be perfect but it's little steps of progress and I applaud that. Btw when I met up with Mr Hamer recently he said that if we fill the stand it will pay for itself in just 3-4 games and then its profit all the way. Now that sounds like good business sense to me and is a small step towards a club that is self-sustaining, and that is good reason to be happy. UTG

The OS did say that the South stand would have new "cladding" May just have meant a new tent instead of a more solid set of walls like I thought it might have had. Given a choice of new blue seats or a better roof/walls I would go with the latter every time (assuming the seats are not broken) .....after all the seats are only visible when nobody is at the ground !

And anyway as a Somerset CCC member, compared to some of the places I've had to sit in to watch them it looks positively luxurious! And I still don't mind being called Ragbag Rovers, it keeps our feet on the ground and it seriously jars off the other lot south of the river. After all we are only one very good season away from being the same as them, the only difference being they would have spent upwards of £50m to be the same as us. Makes me chuckle at the thought. UTG!

UTG! Completely agree with this and a few sensible sheeds that I speak to are embarrassed that if they had got the timing of the Cottrill sacking wrong, it's likely we would've had a derby next year...

That was down to the "line manager"

Stood in the East Enclosure today, each row has 30 seats and there are 12 rows, obviously equalling 360 seats, but for some reason the rows go from A to M

It's also not the place to find out wether it's better to be a giant dwarf or a tiny giant.
