We couldn't possibly say old chap... You do realize that in this day and age I can digitally remove the beard from your avatar and reveal your face to the world ! Ha! Underneath that beard is another beard. It's all part of the training!

congratulations you broke the first rule of SC, never tell anyone you're SC haha only Kidding. DV is bend over touch your toes, in fact lets gets anyone who's close to you to bend over and touch their toes. Sounds like an interesting profession. OK...what is SC and what is DV? First rule of fight club, you don't talk about fight club. Government security clearances for those who have access to secret material, I imagine a few on this forum have or other. I was curiouse if the chap was cleared for his profession.

Right, I'm with you now. Once upon a time I was also DV, although I do believe it was called something different.

UWE stadium site.......
Listening to the EFL podcast with a five minute chat with DC it is very clear that a major factor in him remaining at rovers was the president's future plans for the club. It is without doubt that DC was told new training facilities and a new stadium WILL be completed within the time of his new contract. He mentions that championship football is just not an option at the mem except for a cameo performance. The club is to keep moving forward and his aim is as always to challenge for top six ,I suspect though that he realises the current squad would be in no way be ready for championship football. It would leave then the option that this season is about finishing close to top six ,in getting the current players upto that standard and then preparing to take the squad a step further the next season. It is possible the squad at the end of next season may only contain half a dozen or so of those who gained league two promotion but the spirit of that original conference team will be handed on. So...with both the stadium and training facilities expect slow quiet times for a while ,then once everything is in place things will move very fast indeed.

I fully understand why DC gave a commitment to last seasons squad in retaining all of them if we got promoted, to keep them on a high level of commitment over the remaining games of last season.
However, I reckon that he would not have retained a few of them if we were not in with a chance of a playoff place last season. I suspect a few more will be loaned out before the end of the month or in January.

Being told something and it actually coming to fruition are two different things though, as I doubt DC insisted on a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if we don't get a new stadium &/or training facilities. At the moment bar a few minor improvements at the Mem, which probably will pay for themselves this season, there's no real sign of any major investment since Wael took over, apart from the debts being moved off the books, we don't even know if they have been cleared or simply transferred to Dwane Sports. Given SH suggested work must start on the car park this summer it seems some announcement, one way or the other must be made in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for saving the club Wael... but why aren't you building a stadium within 6 months?

I don't disagree but I still think we are better off under WAQ than we were under Higgs even if nothing else happens!

Did he "save" the club though or just put it (hopefully) on a better footing, I doubt the club would have simply died whilst our assets exceeded our debts. We'd probably be still in Div 2 worrying about money but we'd still be a FL club, Wael's brought the good feeling back but now needs to keep that going.
If there were no plans for a new stadium/UWE it clearly wouldn't be a concern if it took 6 months or 2 years, but the problem is that it seems fairly clear that if some movement is not made shortly then the UWE project could be dead, and we're back to square one with our stadium plans.

I can't see DC patiently waiting for things to happen I don't think it's in his DNA. DC will want to get another promotion on his CV, I don't think he goes for just surviving he will want to push on imo. At the end of the day DC is a young ambitious manager and if the club don't match his ambition there are other clubs who can.

Exactly ,but he also says he likes his players and they have a good understanding. DC will want to move forward but forward doesn't have to mean promotion every season ! It's improving on what is currently in p!ace. If the stadium/ facilities appears to be just talk it won't take long for DC to see this and will start hinting to other clubs he might be interested in leaving BRFC . Whilst like mentioned elsewhere in the thread there is no clause in his contract I'm sure that won't make a difference as if he doesn't see the matched ambition he will be off.

True progress does not mean promotion, but if the club have even a comfortable season then DC will become an attractive proposition to other clubs, a top ten or playoffs and we will struggle to hold on to him. That doesn't only apply to the manager. The upsurge in support due to the clubs new potential may also begin to fade if that potential does not materialise.

For DC I think the training ground is more important than the stadium. I was told we would have a new stadium in 1973. The problem has always been is that we have needed a new ground but have wanted someone else to pay for it
