So it's Chelsea, Swansea, West Ham or Reading in our section of the draw.

I hope we get Swansea at home and the attendance drops dramatically compared to the friendly. That would prove a point.

Reading, us, Portsmouth and Yeovil What a sh*t draw I did not commit to going or otherwise before the draw.
But, I will not be bothering to go to any of the home games and certainly not the away games with those opponents.

There will be people that just don't get it and they will go of course there will be. But I think the majority of our regular fan base will get the reason not to and won't go.

There will be people that just don't get it and they will go of course there will be. But I think the majority of our regular fan base will get the reason not to and won't go. Whatever guise it has been in, the lower league trophy has never been well supported. One problem is that getting to Wembley is far easier than when I was a kid: In those days it was either an England international fixture or the FA Cup Final. Then the League Cup Final was played there. That all seemed fair to me as they were big games then and TV football was minimal. Teams getting to Wembley and their fans being able to visit it was almost a once in a lifetime experience, or at least as rare as hens' teeth. Along come Sky et al: The most minimal trophy is televised. That is good to a point, as it brings lower league football to a wider public: I was very grateful for it 2 seasons ago. However, usually it is only the most latter stages of a competition that are shown on TV. Some people mock the attendances of some of the Wembley fixtures that have existed to date: But can anyone imagine the attendance for what could be be the two teams contesting the EFL Trophy final this season, e.g., Reading and Blackburn? I would Kevin Keegan it (love it) to happen, to show what a joke the competition is.

Reading, us, Portsmouth and Yeovil What a sh*t draw Don't think it mattered who we got, no one's going anyway! Let's see - know the early games of this competition are never well supported anyway but this forum is is a tiny minority of the fan base and usually not representative of the usual fan base that attend games. I for one always like to see our games v Yeovile

I think we need to decide vaguely collectively whether we're gonna boycott just the Reading game or the whole tournament, otherwise it will look completely half-arsed. Istm just the Reading game will be better, coz that way people can go to other games if they wish, and the (hopefully) large difference between the Reading and Yeovil gates will tell its own tale.

Has to just be the academy sides I would think.

I think we should all fully support the new format. Then we can all look forward to the day when our Academy side gives the Hashtwats a fearful beating. Getting a boner just thinking about it, "mind the fkin gap."

I think Gasheads are capable of making up their own minds, without the need for a few internet warriors, as to whether they will attend any type of game involving BRFC.
If you do not want to go, fine. The majority of Gasheads will make up their own minds.

Obviously, but if there's a vague feeling of, 'don't go to the Reading game,' even if it's just on the internet, then people who might want to show their displeasure at the new format might want to buy into that. But, you know, well done for saying 'internet warrior;' that's always class.

I've made my feelings about it pretty clear further up the thread and I'm sticking by that because it's how I feel. What others do is up to them but I'd like to think that most of the supporters of lower league clubs can see where it's heading and will not support it. The thought of playing an important league match against another sides under 21s or youth team makes my skin crawl.

Anyone who has the time to send 3K+ messages and I am not referring to you, needs to get out and breath the fresh air.
There is more to life than any football club.
