Rovers Exiles - Worldwide and UKIt is not at all easy for "exiles" to get tickets for away matches now that the Gas are back in League 1. Would there be benefits in adopting the system used by Exiled Royals Supporters (See below): star-reading.org/index.php/exiles/" Benefits of Exiles membership include:Regional Exiles Branches – we have established Exiles groups both in the UK and Overseas, with plans for more to come. UK members regularly meet up for games and the occasional social event, whilst those abroad share their interest watching live TV matches whenever they can. Branches are run by members for members so we always need volunteers to help. You can download a copy of the current Exiles Branch Map showing the locations of the UK Exiles Groups and postcode areas by clicking on the map below. SEE MAP RFC Match Tickets – RFC & STAR recognise that it is not easy for exiled fans to accumulate Royalty points when living away and have introduced a scheme to help you get match tickets. Conditions apply but subject to a few rules we can generally arrange tickets to Royals games at home and away, which is a great help for those needing to arrange travel well in advance – especially if you are living abroad. STAR Member Benefits – As with all STAR members you’ll receive various benefits, including STAR souvenirs and 20 Royalty points for joining STAR. You can attend the Fans Forums and you’ll also receive regular newsletters which you can choose to arrive by post or e-mail. STAR Travel – there’s nothing stopping you getting on the STAR member coaches to Royals away matches if it’s convenient for you to travel via Reading. STAR Member Representation – STAR regularly meet the football Club management who take a genuine interest in our members views. Trevor Mossman, the Exiles Co-ordinator is an active member of the STAR Board representing exiled fans and giving you a voice within the organisation." See more at: star-reading.org/index.php/exiles/

I understand that it's difficult to get tickets for certain games if you don't have a season ticket.... but whether you live in horfield or Timbuktu it's exactly the same ticketing procedure for pay on the day fans.... right?

Not quite the same situation - you also have to book your plane (and possibly accommodation) if flying from Timbuktu! It needs a bit of advanced planning.

I became a helpline member for this reason, I feel I'm financially assisting the club as I'm mainly an away day supporter living in Yorkshire UTG

I can't see what's in this for Rovers if it's only for away games, they have to set up a scheme but then make virtually no money out of it as most of the ticket sales income goes to the away team?

And like someone else said above just get Helpline if you can't make many home games so have no need to a season ticket. What we really need is a decent online ticket system so this 'bring you voucher to the shop' thing is no longer required as it can be really difficult for people who can't get to the shop. Especially the ones who go to the likes of Hartlepool on a Tuesday night yet can't get a ticket for Newport.

The club keeps 10% of all receipts from selling away tickets on behalf of the opposition to recompense the additional admin.

One of the early quotes was that it "keeps me in touch with my football club"

Do people believe we have any chance of selling out away to Sheffield United? Hoping to get to that one myself.

I can appreciate why some people query whether there is any money in it for Rovers at the moment. However if there is a growing commitment to develop our fanbase (in the Middle East and beyond) it will become an ever more pressing issue whether it be access to the occasional home or away game. I think that we need to see a little further ahead in that "exiles" are just as likely to purchase club merchandise. A "new fan" wearing the distinctive club shirt in Jordan or Qatar could lead to more fans/orders and so on.
From my own UK perspective I get to around 10 or 12 away games a season and I generally feel one of the last in the queue trying to order a ticket over the phone. At times I just give up - and embed myself with the "home" fans.

When there's a big Rovers away following I know I will not get ticket as I'm not in any priority group so I go straight to away club and go in home stand or whatever. For Scunthorpe being first match I knew it would be hard so went straight to Scunthorpe and got my ticket. Not the same as Timbuktu but it will take 5 hours to get there esp in summer!! I don't really mind embedding myself in home fans, they are usually quite friendly! UTG!

Fine, but you don't get to see Matty Taylor's worm.
