Sad to report I'm having a gander. Aldershot look dreadful going forward and Eastleigh are not much better.
Worst thing is the ground, how they imagine they'll be allowed into the football league I don't know. They don't seem to have any terracing, just a rail around the pitch and a bit of a stand. They do have more portakabins than us though, hard as that might be to believe.

It looks worse than Cossham Street, it really does. There's no way Constable and Midson went there for any reason other than £££. To be fair the scattering of fans there are making a bit of noise in this second half.
I was planning on making the trip to Eastleigh this season as it's one of the near-ish ones, interesting to see if it's as Sunday league as it looks in real life down there!

If we comfortably win then my confidence will return but I fear it won't be that easy! |

These teams I am watching on TV are better than what we have put together yet imo. The players on show have also arguably got better pedigree, look fitter and more determined. Lets see how we do. We are in this league for a reason and as a result the only players you are going to attract are ones that can't get a league side. BUT I'd like to try and have a realistic view on things as neither a 'tinter' or 'moaning git'. Our first half on Tuesday was woeful, worse than last season at times, but our second was ok-ish, there were signs of nice football at times and we were probably the better side in that second 45. But as the result was bad and first half half so terrible people seem to forget the better stuff, and to some extent that is fair enough, its a results game. There was no football at all in tonight's game and a shocking goal at the end. We have a long way to go to be a top 5 team but we are definitely not a bottom half team. I refuse to give up hope outright with 2 games gone and still an incomplete squad. IF we don't get 4 points in the next two games having looked at the opposition then I will start getting worried. For the moment I refuse to just get carried away. The same as if we did win our next two I refuse to believe it means we are a suddenly decent side. |
