I HAD to be in Bristol last weekend......and Rovers were away. I HAVE to be in Bristol the weekend after next, and once again Rovers are away.
Sometimes life and death just don't want to play ball.

Even when the circumstances aren't the best Nobby, I always enjoy coming home. Catching up with friends and family, going out for a few beers, grabbing a curry, watching the Gas. Just being on familiar ground, hearing the accent, watching local news, absolutely love it. Left in '92 I've moved around a lot, lived in some great places, made good friends, got it pretty good here in NZ. But there's no place like home.

Driving to Bristol from Heathrow last week I had to stop at the Services for a wee break, and I stumbled upon the little van selling Cornish pasties. I couldn't resist it, but when I tried to eat it in the car as I pulled out of the Services, it burnt the bloody skin off the inside of my mouth as it was so hot ......but it tasted so good (once it had cooled down a bit).... ...and proper thick cut white bread. It's the small things I miss. But circumstances meant that my visits coincided with Rovers playing away.

And I'd rip someone's arm off for a chicken & mushroom pot noodle. i still give it "cheers drive" when I jump off the bus. They ain't got a clue.

Ha, ha...I've got a friend here who worked in Bristol for a couple of years, and he told me that he had been there for about a year before he found out that calling a woman a 'right scuttler' was NOT a compliment !

I feel your pain! I go on holiday in the early hours of Monday morning. When the fixtures came out, this weekend looked perfect: home to Oxford Saturday, last minute running round for holiday stuff Sunday, then off early Monday. Then they change Oxford to the Sunday and I can't rearrange my weekend. Add to that the potential to miss a trip to Stamford Bridge as the 2nd round seems ridiculously early this season! Plus I can't make the Cardiff game!

Just got back to Ashford Int. Eurostar station. Unable to get wifi on the train so checked into the hotel, logged on to find we won!
My lad is already planning the Chelsea trip and we've got Sunday to,look forward to!
Spain is lovely and sunny with great beer (Estrella), but there's a sad lack of Rovers, pork pies, pasties etc etc.
And, I believe this post promotes me to the First Team.
Gonna have a proper Cupar to celebrate!

Got one at Paddington once and had it was still weapons grade when we were going through Didcott. Such agony - being so hungry that you have to shovel the thing into your mouth while it scalds your fingers, blisters your mouth and burns your tongue so badly you can't taste anything. And all 45 minutes after you bought the bugger.

Sod's law indeed. I've booked a trip to the US for next week, paid extra so that I wouldn't miss any games, leaving the morning after the Bolton match and returning the day before Swindon away. And then we go and get bloody Chelsea away... Asked Virgin how much to change the flight.. £735. Ughh hopefully it's on TV in Vegas somewhere.

I'll take the pain of missing the match and go to Vegas for you. You can stay here and watch the game. No need to thank me for my sacrifice. It's what friends are for.

Are you scared of being beaten up badly? Is there any other sort? Depends on who's doing the beating.

Depends on who's doing the beating. See what you're saying. Quite happy to take a beating from Hot Gossip.
