If the Hooter girls had seen me and shouted out, "hey, it's Nobby!", I would have had some explaining to do.

Odd he bought the club then if the deal on the table for the UWE was such poor value? but there was no deal with UWE (other than words). Nothing concrete or watertight. I think Rovers under NH were desperate to build it and were prepared to give away as much silver as possible. Obvie; WAQ isn't going to want to do that Perhaps there was no contract officially in place but you sense some kind of deal must have been agreed in principle with the UWE, but if it was a poor deal perhaps NH did us a good turn by not putting pen to paper on a contract.

I'm not sure there were ever any real plans either, to the point where it's almost as if UWE would build (and use) what they wanted and we'd just have been full on tenants in what ever was made for us.

Wael's team did not do as thorough a "due diligence on UWE" as the other consortium regarding what had already been agreed with UWE and SH admitted at the BRFC AGM that "things came to light" after signing the deal to buy BRFC.
There was no signed Contract between BRFC and UWE under NH stewardship.

So the other consortium probably knew about the "things that came to light" but were still prepared to build it?

The deal between rovers and the uwe was dependant on the sainsburys deal , the sainsburys saga wasn't just about getting funding in place. once the sainsburys deal fell through the deal with the uwe went with it.
