Does it? I thought the last we heard from the UWE & Rovers was that talks were still ongoing, not sure you can draw a conclusion that all is not well.

They will have to come out with a concrete alternative, just saying uwe is off and we are looking at other sites isn't enough. It will have to be enough if that's the truth. I'm very fed up of the lies we were used to. We are all big boys, just tell us how it is.

Wael does not look like the kind of tenant to me, not a surprise if he chooses to buy some land and build it himself, we seem destined to stay at the Mem, the lack of communication is frustrating, has BSS been kidnapped?

Maybe the reason it's gone so quiet since "an announcement is imminent"

What relevance has BSS to this? He would no more be in the loop on this than you. Anyway, he's been at every game this season apart from Cardiff ( his daughter was having his first grandchild) so he is available to speak to. He goes round the bars and is always happy to answer questions if indeed he knows the answers.

I'm sure the lack of news is down to the confidentiality required when closing a major deal of this size. Like many others on here, I have total faith in our new board and am confident they will deliver a new stadium.

I reckon the OP is on the money.
If we want new PP to be agreed on a new site, we'd probably need to keep SG Council on side. Given how keen they were to help boost UWEs pulling power through having a state of the art sport complex, what better way to do that than to say we'll build a training complex there provided they sign off on a separate piece of land - I.e. "it's that or nothing".
I have the feeling UWE won't sell us the land and/or they want too high a percentage of revenue - e.g. parking fees, naming rights etc.
If that is the case then the deal was a f**king sh*te one and I hope we do look elsewhere, even despite the obvious dissapointment of having to start from scratch again.
Ultimately we've got one shot at this - get it wrong and we are f**ked.

The OP said there was good news imminent about the UWE, it was somebody else who posted something about a 55,000 seat stadium, which sounds total BS to me as that would be almost as big as Chelsea's new stadium. To build a training ground, buy land and to build a 35,000 stadium, with potential to expand upto a 55,000 capacity, would probably cost the club nearly £100m, I just can't see that happening.

The analogy he gave did indicate it would be a positive announcement, unless we're all gearing up for a crash landing!

Just as likely to be bad news about the UWE but possibly good news for elsewhere! No crash landing.

Ultimately we've got one shot at this - get it wrong and we are f**ked. This is right. If the deal can't be done in our favour, we shouldn't close it. It must be a highly complicated deal to get right so it genuinely is mutually beneficial. The main difference, lest we forget, is that we have to finance the build in full now, which wasn't an issue originally. We have to find a buyer for the Mem, too. Easy to see why this might take quite a long time.

I for one will not hold Weal and his team responsible for the deal which Nick Higgs made with UWE.
Are people seriously knocking the new man because he is having trouble renegotiating the comical deal Higgs made with UWE??
Basically, if Weal fails to get the best deal for Rovers as UWE won't budge,it is he who will carry the can not Higgs. That's quite laughable but not surprising.
