I was going to give this game a miss, but with the new signings and players I have not seen this season, or played small parts. if DC starts them I will probably go.
New boys Roos and Roberts + Moore, James. Broom, Lucas, Kilgour with if they are fit Lawrence and Mansell. Add McChrystal and Gaffney

Please don't start them D.C. Some principles are easily overcome it seems.

Each to their own, but for the reason that this competition is a farce with the prem 'B' teams being entered I'll be giving it a miss.
I think especially this game because it's the Reading game, those who disagree with the changes to the competition want to send a message to the FA by avoiding this game.

I won't be attending as the whole thing is a farce, but each to their own.

I've spent a lot recently with Chelsea and Swindon that even a lower price it would not intice me to see Reading U23's. How is this now a lower league competition?

Good question at the end of your post, it's the football league trophy and now there are a bunch of teams that aren't in the football league, and one of them will probably go and win it just to make it even more of a joke, I won't be attending any of these game

Wouldn't care if we signed Messi, Ronaldo and Suarez, still wouldn't go to that sh*te competition.

Why do these higher teams need to enter the competition, most players are on loan at the lower 2 levels anyway!

Good point, which do Swansea's players like Roberts turn out for them or us, as don't Academy players on loan play their "reserve" games for their parent clubs this season? Back to the OP with two new signings and no home game for a couple of weeks, then I wonder if we'll now get a decent turn out next week after all?

irrespective of fans point of view regarding the politics of B Sides, I think for the youngsters and fringe squad players it actually a good competition.
I would expect at least two or three from Lucas, Lyttle, Broom, Greenslade, Malpas, Kilgour etc to feature in some of the three games to help their development. Even Reading U-23s has to be more competative that the B side reserve league we are already in?
It may also give someone like Dominic Thomas the chance to play if he has recovered from his injuries and DC can see what he can do in a proper match?
Then there are the squad players especially the forwards who need a goal - Gaffney, James, Bodin etc
Roos might get a chance to build a match rapport with his new team mates and Puddy might get some game time similar to Moore and McCrystal.

That's really missing the point. You can do all that in a normal EFL Trophy game. And, Chelsea, for example could give some youngsters a game against us in the EFL Cup. You can play fringe players whenever you want, and nurse a squad of whatever size you feel best for your team, whoever you are. But, this competition explicitly puts Prem and other B teams on the same level as our senior team. We are now, according to the FA and the FL, officially second class. We do not compete on an equal level with teams like Reading. We compete on an equal level with their fricking B team.

Not sure Chelsea could risk playing Academy players on Tuesday given that they even had to bring on Hazard & Terry?

Not sure Chelsea could risk playing Academy players on Tuesday given that they even had to bring on Hazard & Terry? Exactly, they could have risked losing. Whereas Reading won't be risking anything at all. Risk-less football is meaningless football.

Last season we played Wycombe and I only went then because our league game against Wycombe the weekend after had been postponed. Only got around 3k for that so I'm sure the reading game won't attract more than a couple of thousand.

I do feel sorry for our players who are involved in this game as it will be a pretty dire affair I imagine. However it also makes me a little nervous that a fair amount of people don't really seem to see the issue with this competition.

The 'politics' are the main point - if this was continued into other competitions - remember they suggested putting Premier B teams into the league 1 and 2 - then teams like Rovers will go out of existance - think of our kids - who will they be able to support then?
