I will not be doing a match report for tonights game due to a totally embarrassing 90 minutes of football with one of the worse defensive performances I have seen against what can only be described as a bunch of kids who turned up and showed us up. What our players do in training I just don't know but I am not wasting 3 hours of my valuable time to report on it. I wish I could be saying that we didn't want to play in it but that would be wrong. Only one word- Disgraceful. See you all after the Rochdale game.

It sounds like the players weren't feeling it tonight and staged a sort of boycott of their own.

No one wants this competition, DC ridiculed it and WAQ publicly said the EFL have warned that teams who don't play a strong team will be fined.
The only disgraceful thing is that you went to support B teams.
Edit: For what it's worth, I usually look forward to your match reports. But lately they seem to be attacking the squad an awful lot, and well, this one takes the biscuit.

I didn't go to support B teams. I went to see my team soundly beat them which is the way to put the FA in their place.I can only report on what is put before me and in all honesty we look ill prepared this season but it is very early days so hopefully today will see a couple of quality signings to help us turn the corner.

The only thing worse than an embarrassing showing in an embarrassing game that no one at the club wanted to happen is overreaction at the team's performance.
I agree we need a couple more signings today to complete the squad, but remember being beaten in the cup by Bath City in DC's first full season? Or Chesham last season? Neither of those defeats did our seasons much harm, despite the mass outcry from supporters after them.
And that's essentially what happened to us last night - but it's just we haven't been knocked out (unfortunately) due to it being a group stage.
I fully expected a poor and half-arsed performance from the team last night. They'll have known 95% of the fanbase couldn't give a sh!t about the game or result, and I doubt a lifeless and sparsely-populated Mem did much to fire them up.
It had all the ingredients of a waste of time and money.

In all fairness, when have we had a good start under DC? This competition (is that the right word?) probably suits his mindset down to the ground, in that he can try different formations etc to see how players suit them.

We could have played our U21 team last night and they would have played better.
Why we have signed that camel of a Goalie is beyond me
I hope Lenny Laurence never plays for the club again - lasted 16 minutes and was out played by a 17 year old
Time for Gafers to go out on loan to get some form back - dreadful
Easter better off in Midfield
Billy Boy Bodin - utter rubbish last night
Lines - to many failed Hollywood balls again

To be fair DC ridiculed the way this competition was organised, as for the game last night he said he want to win so on that basis you can see Steves point?

If we win next game you'll be calling for them all to be knighted and capped at an international level. Your up and down opinions based on the result males anything you say not worth reading and completely redundant. Not sure how people haven't realised this yet. I don't give two hoots about last night, I checked the score twice all night and went meh at the final whistle. The fact you went is a joke as it is.

How can we expect the players yo perform when nobody turns up to support them? More fool the fans who paid money to watch them tonight when the obvious thing, in the interest of the club/the game in general, was to boycott the match.

Take your mind back to the season before last, DC said the F.A. Trophy was a route to Wembley and we wanted to win it. We were embarrassed by Bath City.
Last season, F.A. cup against Chesham Utd same.
Do I detect a pattern?
That being said half those players in the first half reinforced the opinion they are bench or squad players and the referee should never have got above the conference. It's not the end of the world, but must be addressed quickly. In DC we trust.
