Take your mind back to the season before last, DC said the F.A. Trophy was a route to Wembley and we wanted to win it. We were embarrassed by Bath City. Last season, F.A. cup against Chesham Utd same. Do I detect a pattern? That being said half those players in the first half reinforced the opinion they are bench or squad players and the referee should never have got above the conference. It's not the end of the world, but must be addressed quickly. In DC we trust. We're not very good in the first round of tinpot cup competitions?

The only thing worse than an embarrassing showing in an embarrassing game that no one at the club wanted to happen is overreaction at the team's performance. I agree we need a couple more signings today to complete the squad, but remember being beaten in the cup by Bath City in DC's first full season? Or Corby Town last season? Neither of those defeats did our seasons much harm, despite the mass outcry from supporters after them. And that's essentially what happened to us last night - but it's just we haven't been knocked out (unfortunately) due to it being a group stage. I fully expected a poor and half-arsed performance from the team last night. They'll have known 95% of the fanbase couldn't give a sh!t about the game or result, and I doubt a lifeless and sparsely-populated Mem did much to fire them up. It had all the ingredients of a waste of time and money. The whole thing around the competition has a lack of enthusiasm and the low crowd (2000 down on last year i think) would hardly have motivated the players. I expect it game across as a glorified reserve gsme the second they walked on the pitch.

I see the sneaky pr1cks have made it a group format, eg more games. I'm sure they will spin it into an increase in attendance this season. Attachment Deleted

I was hoping the no match report was due to not recognising the competition.
Sorry guys but if you turned up and actually watched, shame on you.

Roos played well at Swindon.
Will judge him on competitive games I think, rather than other's accounts of games like last night

Gotta say I think it's time some of the high and mighty on here grew up.
I decided as a matter of principle not to go last night. I can't remember the last game at home or away I missed. Personally I am glad about the decision I made. I also respect all fellow gasheads that went last night. I think they were wrong to go, but it's still just about a democracy, and they had the right to choose. I hold no grudge with those that went, and I will go to the follow up games because they are against REAL LEAGUE TEAMS. Again that is my choice, and if it offends anyone, well f..k you.

I will not be doing a match report for tonights game due to a totally embarrassing 90 minutes of football with one of the worse defensive performances I have seen against what can only be described as a bunch of kids who turned up and showed us up. What our players do in training I just don't know but I am not wasting 3 hours of my valuable time to report on it. I wish I could be saying that we didn't want to play in it but that would be wrong. Only one word- Disgraceful. See you all after the Rochdale game. My view is that we were already humiliated by the fixture, no football needed to be played. There was nothing that could happen on the pitch that could make anything any worse. It really should have been embarrassing just to be there. This is a decent squad of players most of whom have just been promoted - I have no doubt they will bounce back.

I hope Lenny Laurence never plays for the club again - lasted 16 minutes and was out played by a 17 year old Well Lenny is 68!! Mind you I did not know we'd signed him from Cardiff?

Not at the game but might be worth remembering Reading U23's are in the top division of the two Category One academy divisions, and have already won their previous 2 games this season.
So maybe they are pretty good?
